Hey everyone. I was wondering where you guys were getting the number magnets for your cars. I'm not really digging the painter's tape anymore, and would like some nice, magnetic numbers for my car. I also see a lot of people with those rectangular "plates" that they put their number and class letters on. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it. I did a search online but I don't know whichs sites are "safe." Thanks.

number magnets are great for auto-x. fly off if you are going at race track speeds. you didn't say what your use would be.

The car will be used for auto-x. Sorry, I thought I had mentioned that.

I went to lowes and picked up a set of magnetic air vent covers. Then i printed out the numbers and letters on the computer and used them as stencils and cut them out. cost was next to nothing.

^^ i did a similar thing w/ air duct vent covers, but i used them as a plate and stuck 8" black numbers/letters to them. the cut out is a good idea, but wouldnt work w/ my white car. i boxed the white magnetic "plate" w/ black electrical tape for extra flair. hah

I just bought a 24"x12" piece from a sheet at my local arts/crafts store. I cut the numbers out and they work well for autoX. Make sure it is a thick magnet or it can slide off.

we had 24"x24" magnetic panels for our Mini's when they were racecars, we just put all the stickers on them that were required and taped them on. never fell off and when we were done racing we could take them numbers off and drive it to dinner.

I ran magnetic panels, with numbers for a year or so. Used electrical tape on the leading edge. They never came off or moved. I went a little faster than auto-x........ I think :rolleyes

I bought magnetic picture frames at the craft store. 8 1/2 x 11 magnets with a clear plastic sleeve on the front. I print out the numbers on a piece of paper and slip it inside the plastic sleeve. This method is a little "home-brew" but is also works for sponsors in a pinch.

Any sign shop can make them for you. I got mine for about $5 per panel, with white numbers on a red background. I tape the leading edge, and have never had a problem with them coming loose.

Save a bundle and get 'em at kinkos, that's what I did. You can print 4 color magnets with numbers and more if you like, or go one color.

Mine just flew off however at THill, likely on the front striaght at 120MPH. They worked great at Sears which is amuch slower track. I forgot to tape the lead edge and put them on wet... my own fault.
