View Full Version : 330i gets killed twice :(
Sticky 09-29-2002, 07:01 PM Usually im dishing them out, but last night got my ass kicked twice. First one, a white wrx that is modified. Upped boost, bov, exhaust, and a fmic. I made sure we went from a roll, so I would have the advantage, but by 90 he pulled 2 cars :( ,so I was extremely sad. Second time i lost to a 99 m3 cab. It was not a bad feeling to go down to a fellow bimmer, but I have yet to lose to an e36 m3, all my other races with them i won. This goes to show, how big of a difference driver makes. He drove his car very well, and obliterated me, 4 car lengths. Anyway, I think its about time to jump ship. I test drove a c32 today, and am thinking of trading in the bimmer next week, i have had it for 2 years already :)
punknamedjimmy 09-29-2002, 07:10 PM ahhh what i would do for any of the above named cars:bawl
SilverSS 09-29-2002, 07:46 PM You gonna leave BMW? I mean dont get me wrong the 32 AMG is a wicked ride, but I rather have a E46 M3! Although the four doors may be more practical for you, I dont know. Either way, give the E46 M3 some thought before falling over board.
Iniquity 09-30-2002, 09:03 PM ditto.. don't forget about an M3... or an M5 if you're looking for 4 doors..
Anyone know if they still sell dinan bmw's direct from dealership anymore?

Hmmm, that's very odd. The E36 M3 cab is a good deal slower than an E36 M3 coupe. You lost by 4 car lengths to the cab, but beat E36 M3 coupes? Something doesn't add up.

Exactly, that is why I said what a huge difference a good drive can make.

The 4 door practicality is not what I am after, it is the aftermarket potential. There are multiple c32's running around with 400+ hp. The same can not be said for the m3, great car, but I want aftermarket potential in a german car.
count_schemula 10-01-2002, 07:21 AM You're not going to mask poor driving with 400hp are you? :(
NoSoup4U 10-01-2002, 07:57 AM always mask poor driving with TQ!!!! ;)
SilverStreak 10-01-2002, 09:22 AM Yeah, but the C32 can only be had with a wussomatic...

Yah but that's a HUGE difference. I'd like to think most M3 owners can drive moderately well. Maybe that cab was supercharged?

Silverstreak, your always putting down automatics :( We all know how great a manual car is for vigorous driving, and it really makes a driver connected to the car. However, as a drag racer, you can recognize the benefits an automatic brings. As I am sure you know, with a forced induction vehicle + automatic tranny, making boost at the line is VERY easy. This allows an extremely hard launch a manual will not duplicate. I am also in southern california, and comfort during long commutes is a priority for me, so I believe the c32 would be the best overall choice. I want a vehicle capable of 12's, that is a luxury car, comfortable, has aftermarket potential, and is around the 50-65k range. If you have any other car ideas, feel free to voice them, but it seems that the c32 is the only car that meets that criteria.
SilverStreak 10-02-2002, 10:35 AM Auto's just aren't my thing. Even as a drag racer. I personally enjoy rowing the gears. It's a preference for me, not for everybody. The fact that AMG only has auto's in their car is the very reason I won't even go for a test drive- but that's for ME, not everyone else.
That being said, if you prefer an auto, I'd have to encourage you to look into a C32, I'm sure it's an awesome car, I know it's nice looking and most likely of very high quality. And there is also the M3 SMG, which is really a manual sans the 3rd pedal and shifter, but can be set in an auto-mode, if memory serves. Probably similar in price to the C32.
If you need a 4 door, the C32 wins, obviously. Personally if I was ever to go the AMG way, I'd go for the SLK32, myself.
I meant no offense, just expressing a personal opinion of what I want in my choice of a performance car. :)
