For my painted, clearcoated wheels, I apply the same carnauba-based wax I use on the paint. The brake dust and dirt wash off very easily, and the wheels look great.

While carnauba waxes will work I've read (here and other sites like unoffiaialbmw that polymer-based waxes are best as they hold up to the high temperatures better. Examples of polymers are NU-FINISH 2000 (which I use) and MEGUIAR'S #20 POLYMER SEALANT. Of course, I don;'t know whether the kind of driving I do really generates enough heat to matter much but, well, I already had the polymer stuff anyway so...

Droptop is right - Synthetic works better than carnauba wax.

I have one coat of Klasse All-in-one followed by several coats of Klasse Sealant glaze on my wheels. It is important not to use wax/carnauba, but use a synthetic polymer/acrylic.

Waxes don't last or stand up to the heat of the wheels. Polymers do. Waxes can also attract dust. In my experience, waxes don't stand up to harsher cleaners, either.

Point is, my wheels still get a dust (I drive 'em hard ) but it just takes a stream of water to clean brake dust off...
