Tirerack had a 16" winter package. Not sure how light, strong or wide they are/were however. You may want to call them for details.

i have heard that certain offsets of 16" ssr comps clear e36 m3 brakes, but fwiw, r-comp selections sucks in 16" (don't really know about race slicks, tho...)

You will have a so much better selection of tires in 17s...plus I believe the 17s are cheaper.

I have 16" mille miglia spider's on the car now for winter, tight fit. I think its an older style, might want to call tirerack and ask if the spider 2 currently sold will still work.

really....and that is based on what?
hoosier, avon, kumho, pirelli, yokohama and toyo all have 16in r-comp sizes. you won't find 295/15 16 decorative rubber bands, but 225/50 and 245/45 are perfect for e36 track use.

that is what i am saying...
i want 245/45R16... or i will run 225/50/R16 or there are a FEW 235/45R16
and you are right... the toyo RA-1's or hoosiers int he dry will be perfect :)
i may go with victo racers :)

had this talk with a buddy of mine who has a 2005 Mustang with a S/C... he also can't fit 16" rims on the rear. Companies dont make a 17" drag slick.. highest is 16" drag slicks.. we searched every where.. we have no problems finding 17" that we would run for autox/DE events that sort of thing, but no DRAG SLICKS in a 17" size
