My Eisenmann system finally arrived and while removing old mufflers, found the bottom of gas tank to be wet with some fluid which slowly drops to the floor....whatever is leaking is located below rear passenger and wheelwell (that's where it seems to be coming from?) and gathering at bottom of gas tank...what fluid lines are in that vicinity or what should I be looking at???

just got this baby and I hate to see her in tears ....

There is only gasoline and windshield washer fluid (non-US version only) there.

If it is water, trace the line from the rear bumper tank forward to see where it is damaged.

If it is gas:

Pull the passenger rear seat bottom straight up at the front.

Easiest access is with the passenger seat forward a ways and the seat back tilted forward (push back slightly while lifting the seat back latch) and the windows down on that side.

Once you have the seat out take off the round cover you see in the seat well.

If there is gas there:

1) Check and if needed tighten the ring that holds down the piece that the hoses are connected to.

2) Tighten the hose clamps if needed.

If there isn't gas there or it isn't gas let us know

it doesn't smell or look like gas, it seems to be brake fluid, I don't think any tranny leak(??) would show in that spot...THANKS,Terry...I will go ahead and follow your suggestion and see if I can find something that way...

I think that the brakes follow the frame rail but I think that they are on the drivers side (LHD), could be wrong though. There is a brake line over the top above the differential.

A very few late 840s in Europe were special ordered with AHK rear steering and those are the only ones with hydraulics to the back.

pulled the rear passenger seat out and there was a small puddle in that well below the electrical connectors, the hose clamp was a bit loose too, I tightened it and hope that took care of that....
THANKS,Terry....

After installing the Eisenmanns (which look, feel and sound awesome), took another look at it and it is a gas leak, somewhere on top of gas tank or on the filler nozzle,...couldn't see much from below or locate the source, and don't know if I should mess any further with it or just take it to the dealer (and have them tell me anything they want me to know)......

If it isn't obvious where the leak is from and you don't feel comfortable playing with it,. Then by all means seek help from someone you trust to do it.

An independent shop is sometimes a better choice than the dealer. Some of the dealers still have an oldtimer or two that were certified on the 8 but too many don't anymore.

My problem is that I seem to have been born with tools in my hand and don't seem to know when to trust someone elses hands on my Baby:rolleyes

Terry, on that well under the rear right seat you told me to look in, how many hoses should be visible?
also, can you access the filler pipe from the trunk or get a look where it enters the tank? it seems to be running down from that side ....

Hi
I think that there should be 3 or 4 hoses on the passenger side connection.

There is a seal ring under the plate with the hose and electrical connections that is held down by a "Nut" about 4" in diameter. Nut is tighened by tapping it around clockwise. Remove any spilled gas first.

There is also a suction transfer that looks kind of the same on the drivers side but you said you were leaking an the passenger side.

The filler comes in on the backside of the tank towards the center and the filler vents are attached at top center toward the rear of the tank according to the ETK.

It was the hose above the electrical connections to the pump...
there's another clamp on that hose just 2 or 3 inches towards the front seat, drilled a hole on the metal directly above it to access the clamp and tightened good....
reved the engine for a while and not a drop ,dry as a desert....

MASSIVE THANK YOU TO TERRY for your suggestions and putting me on the right track...
