Ive never raced it, but Ive driven a C32 AMG... one word... wow... Too bad they wont mate it to a manual gearbox.

Thats odd, the c32 is supposed to have the advantage from a roll. Better coeficciant of drag and more torque and hp, by all acounts I have seen, the c32 wins by a lot from a roll.

Phillip, there is this guy "JD32" with SLK32 in our area that wants to run my car after my car is done. Since I don'tk now when my car will be done at this rate maybe you can give him a run? he he he

Well, he knows that he will lose but he wanted to see if he would be able to hang. I think he hangs around in DTM and S2000 forums. Nice guy though.

What the heck, I'll give it a shot. Tell JD32 to come to MIR this weekend or we can meet up some other place. :D

I've already told him that bunch of S2000 and bimmer owners were hitting MIR this Sunday. I guess we will have to see. I think he drives a very nice looking silver SLK32.
Even if it doesn't happen this time, I am sure you will see him on the road sometime. Since we all live close to each other, it is bound to happen.

I hope you are feeling better than yesterday so you can take your beast out for a longer drive and give us more insight on how it performs. :buttrock

how's going guys. You know what i drive from the sig. Anyway, i went with an E46 M3 convertible once, it was from a 35 mph roll onto the freeway. when he got beside me, we both punched it. I won by 5-6 cars before i let off around 120mph.

There was disadvantage on his side though because he has another passenger in the car, and the M3 convertible is much heavier than the M3 coupe.

My friend's dad just got a M3 for him, but the thing is that his dad won't let him actually drive that car for another 6 months :laugh because his dad wants to drive the car for now. I'll ask when he can actually drive the car out by himself...:evil2

btw i've already rode in his car when i went to his house a couple night ago. One word....WOW....the M is awesome.:buttrock

SLK32 should be able to spank E46M3 Vert pretty good. :D No doubt about that. Unless M46M3 Coupe driver knows what he is doing, he will probably loose too. But then, SMGII Vs SLK32 could be an interesting one. I would still put my money on SLK32 though...

I have this article right in front of me.

As much as I hate to say it at highway speeds (eg. from a fast roll) the C32 AMG will out muscle the M3 no doubt. Take a moment to put it to perspective though, its a 5.4 liter V8 vs. a 3.2 Inline 6, all that extra torque is what does it.

30-50 MPH
M3 -> 9.8
C32 AMG -> 2.7

50-70 MPH
M3 -> 7.4
C32 AMG -> 3.1

From a stop to any speed however the M3 comes out on top because of the manual tranny and more aggressive gearing.

0-60 MPH
M3 -> 4.7
C32 AMG -> 5.0

0-100 MPH
M3 -> 11.8
C32 AMG -> 12.2

0-150 MPH
M3 -> 34.5
C32 AMG -> 35.5

Both lovely cars but the M3 is a better value and has more sporty soul.

The C32 AMG is a supercharged 3.2L V6

(Taken from www.c32life.com

"The C 32 AMG offers special moments to all of its drivers. Impressive dynamics, for example, which are technically defined through a torque of 332 lb-ft, a power of 349 hp and a stopping distance of less than 112 feet from a speed of 60 mph - and visually with a look that is dynamic without being garish.

With the new AMG 3.2 liter V6 Kompressor engine, the legendary V8 engine of the C 43 AMG has found a more than worthy successor. Out of 3.2 liters engine capacity, the AMG V6 Kompressor engine develops 260 kW/349 hp and generates 332 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm.

Amazing!!!

Acceleration is AMAZING. This is the fastest stock Mercedes ever produced: the C 32 AMG sedan loaded with two adults and luggage takes only 5.2 seconds to reach 62 mph according to Mercedes. The car is capable of runs to 60 in 4.5 seconds! (AutoCar review Jun 27th 2001) That's faster than the new BMW M3 and the Porsche 911. The newly-developed AMG high performance brake system with ventilated disk brakes all round and perforated brake disks at the front cooperates with the AMG sports suspension to achieve even faster standstill. if you are talking about the price of two car it's actually the same when you compare both car with the same types of options plus the standard feature. I paid $62k out of door for my car (include a $2k extended warranty). the only option i didn't get is the $2k Command NAV system. My friend paid $64k for his M3, fully loaded with everything except the radar thingy. The NAV for the BMW is also around $2000. If I subtract that from the total of $64k it will still be $62k. No matter how you calculated it, my car is about $2000 dollars cheaper. M3's base price is cheaper because it does not have a lot of standard feature.

I definitely agreed with you that the M3 has a more sporty soul. The purpose of these two cars are different. the C32 is made for the autobahn, and the M3 is made for the Nurburgring.

Simply my decision was that, i want a Four door car. If i want a two-door, it would definitely be the M3.:buttrock

The AMg was a cool car to race but not that thrilled.......
but the //M3 I just had to beat his ass as he was a real
cocky type driver cutting in and out of traffic......

I think when i relayed that kill on roadfly it started a whole 3 day flame war....................lol

So the SLK is as fast as an S54 M Coupe in a straight line is what I gather by reading the above..... :)

Yup, Tommy. SLK32 and M Roadster/Coupe should run neck to neck. Although all publications said that SLK32 is a bit faster, 1/4 mile track records I hear indicates otherwise. ;)

I think Tommy's coupe with all of his mods should give a nice run against SLK32.

JD32, unfortunately my car isn't done yet. Curry's said this Friday so I am crossing my fingers at this time. If I do get my car back by Friday, I will probably go to "In-Line" place with Phillip (///M Roadster with RMS StageIII) and get a dyno number out of dynoject. I will probably go to MIR with Phillip on 10/6 as well if everything works out.

Fingers crossed for you....

Id like to go against a SLK w/ the new diff....

Anyone know how much it weighs?

a Video camera for MIR then?? I actually might be able to borrow a couple of helmets if needed as well.

I should bring a digital camera as well, from what it sounds like -- there will be some sweet cars there.

What are you going to do? Still drive the roadster? IF so, what tires are you putting on there -- you know this area's weather better than I do...I've heard LM-22's, Blizzaks, etc... but, if it is DRY outside and just cold, I am wondering if the tires will wear down very quickly....

It doesn't seem that this area gets much winter precipitation...:dunno

I might get a winter car then.... rather than take chances with this car.... what that is... no clue... preferably around $3K and under... which leaves me what??

as i said before, the C32 is not made for track...:D it plows like hell compare to the M3 E36/E46.

btw, SLK32 ran 4.6 sec 0-60 mph and 13.1 sec 1/4 miles according to MotorWeek. M3 ran 4.8, and 13.3 in their test, and again, SLK32 lost on the race track.

I believe your 30-50 and 50-70 numbers are misleading when comparing a manual to an auto...Most mags do these tests in the car's top gear, and given the MB's auto, that may be a tad difficult to do without the car downshifting. An M3 in 6th going from 30-50 is going to be slow as hell...As will any other manual out there.

5-60 or 5-100 would be more accurate with both cars starting in 1st....
