Hammm3 03-10-2006, 10:20 AM This is the video of a BMW starting from the back and raping the field.
It is an in car view car number 11 I think, not sure of the track but it is outside of USA.

same here, i deleted. But would like to see it again. Steve got a link? or AIM it to me.
M3 Pete 03-10-2006, 02:04 PM what always amazes me about that 320 video is the start. The guy looks like he is starting like 5 seconds before the rest of the field, passing them like they are still waiting for the green flag. The other thing is how he passes all the 911s, like they are Ford Fiestas or something. Very impressive.
///Mracer 03-10-2006, 02:27 PM wow. There are some great cars in that clip.
sunir 03-10-2006, 03:37 PM that's a great vid!!! my ears are bleeding though:D :stickoutt ...that car the STW...I remmember TC Kline having one of those...they are sick cars and they have 4 cylinder engines! very impressive:)
dejablu311 03-10-2006, 06:09 PM what kind of tranny is that guy using? I know its not a good view but it doesn't look like he is lifting for shifts.

MMMM Straight cut sequential
Randy305 03-10-2006, 07:28 PM PH.... is working on the mental game.:)
Abrahams/101CM 03-10-2006, 11:55 PM Straight Cut Sequential (drool).
Wish they were afordable to run.
Require frequent teardowns.
Also puts anyone who uses them in SM.
A "baby sequential" rated for 250 rwh is 10k.

The quotes I recieved for straight cut sequentials from 3 companies with adapters, were between 23-28k, not including shipping. With gears, clutches, flywheel, electornics/sensors/etc, you are looking at 35-40k for the whole deal, plus labor if you are not a race team that just does it professionally.
If they are used properly they last ok, don't need to be torn down very often, but if abused and improperly used, it could break parts quick. But because they are so easy to swap gears in/out, you probably want to change gears for each track to make it perfectly greared. Xtrac, Hollinger, Hewland and Quaife all make some really nice stuff.
Maybe 10 years down the road i'll get one for the e46 m3 Sm project ;) haha. But I could live with a h pattern hewland though if it came down to it.
ssburns 03-11-2006, 09:49 AM I work for Ricardo (Audi R8 trans supplier), but unfortunately all their trans work goes on in the UK. So there aren't any parts lying around our shop.
If you see anything you like on their website, I could enquire about ae employye discount :rolleyes

Cool, what do you do for Ricardo?
IIRC Ricardo in MI is mostly Enigine system/component development, isn't it?

Yep. We also do some vehicle engineering, nvh, ride and handling, body structure analysis, etc.
I personally work for Ricardo Strategic Consulting which is a mangement consulting division. So I don't do any real engineering work anymore, but most of our work has some technical aspects to it.
