I mentioned that there had been a photo shoot yesterday, and someone asked for pics. So here are a few, including a very nice motion shot by G.P. :buttrock

And since someone will inevitably ask, I'll discuss the location, albeit in very vague terms. ;) It's an industrial complex I know of with some interesting design features, including an area enclosed on four sides by a high concrete wall. We have come to refer to it simply as the "concrete room."

Here are a couple of shots I took simply to illustrate the ridiculous bigness of the place. I am standing against one side of it, and the camera's field of view still only manages to capture about a third of the area's length.

And no, the "donut" tracks are not mine! :D

Beautiful car and I love where you selected to take the pics!

...I always thought the roundel on the side of the Z4 was the button that activated the "Transformers"...:stickoutt

Modern "Stone Henge" (last pic with the "walls")?
Yeah, it reminds me of that too, though my initial thought when seeing them was of the monoliths in "2001."

The color is a nice compliment to the Sterling Grey, and the straight lines everywhere give a nice contrast to the curves and angles of the Z4.

Nice pics btw.. The motion shot could be a magazine pic..
Thanks! And yeah, G.P. rocks my face of with her camera skillz! :buttrock

You can also see that I look pretty much like this smiley... ---> :cool

Well, when one of them lights up, you know I'm about to "transform" the direction I'm going. :ponder

That's actually one of my favorite details about the car. :alright

Ah, tripod/monopod will help that. Also, a tip they gave us in drum corps for keeping the upper body stable while moving is to actually un-lock your joints, knees in particular. That makes you more fluid, and smoother (important, when judges are right in front of you looking for points to pick on).

The same principles apply with cameras, too. Watch me when I shoot video, and you'll see that if I'm moving, I'm in a mild crouch, with my knees bent. It looks a little goofy, but it works. ;)

In any case, the stuff you got, and the fact you got it freehand, is still ultra-badass. :buttrock

Thanks, and only a maybe...

This place is even less open to visitors than the palces we went initially, and the palces we took Bill. We probably won't even go back for a while ourselves, just to keep the interloper traffic down.

Gotta keep the locations quiet, lest people go flooding in there, and ruin it for everybody. :nono

Hm... Don't know that I would have picked that out, but it does have some of that Eastern-Euro industrial starkness to it, true. :ponder

Good luck! Not only is it a newer facility than most of the photos they use, it also isn't very obvious from the air (I've seen an aerial shot of the place). That, and it's so far out in the middle of nowhere, Google's satellite pics for the region aren't detailed enough to show it.

Mwuuhahahaha... :menani

Lol. When BMW was offering the low lease rates about a year-year&half ago, I helped the X GF look for a 2.5 in that color combo. Couldnt find one without a ton of other options she didnt want. I never was a fan of the Z3, to me the front end is just horrible ugh. The Z4 didnt make a great first impression, but after seeing them on the road I really like the look. It has a great stance and very aggressive attitude. I am also of the opinion the chassis is one of BMW's best to date after putting a couple Z4's thru the paces. A M coupe based on the Z4 might find a place in my garage at some point. I also expected the Z4 to sell better than it has, it drives and handles in a way the Z3 never could

I try to be nice to the server, and usually delete my attachments after they've been up a while, or if they've generated a significant amount of traffic. With almost 470 views of this thread, I figured the people who were going to look had seen what they wanted to see, and the pics had pretty much served their purpose, so I knocked them down.

Just doing my part to keep the "server busy" message from popping up any more than it needs to, that's all. :az

Why, are you still trying to get a fix on latitude & longtitude from the position of the sun? :D
