Who wants to host one? Autofab peeps perhaps? Since Karl is outta the business, I figgered we needs a new home shop that can handle more than a few cars at once.

So, any takers? Lemme know, 'cause it's been a while since we've had one.

I just need to do fluids, and some interior BS.

And cam swap, but that's for another day.

Do it up, but give me a little time to get back on two feet.

I'll come and help out. I just finished up Auto for the day so I got to wait til tommorow to finish with the clutch job. I probably won't have any parts to install since I'm low on cash and need to start saving for college. Just post when we are gonna have it.
P.S. if anyone needs a lift desperately tommorow shoot me a PM I might be able to get you one for a couple of hours tommorow at my school since it is a teacher work day.

Stop using the term racing to describe this weekends BMWCCA school or the chapter president (who browses these forums) will smite you.

Driving around with an instructor != racing

You're a slacker. Peachtree BMWCCA is hotness. Are you planning on going to the autocrosses this season with the e30?

And I agree, the little bit of time I've talked to Bruce he's been really cool. Watching him out at the autocrosses is classic too. :D

Matt
03-10-2006, 12:57 AM
I am planning on selling the e30 to finance my dream of racing a minibike in SEMRA (www.semra.org)

But I will probably autox my friend's Miata with the SCCA. I will have a brand new set of Falkens on the e30, so I may keep it for a while and autox it, too.

BTW, this has been my dream for exactly 4 days. It is subject to change with my mood, the weather, the running state of any of my cars, or the passing of time.

Yeah I know how that goes... in the past week I've decided that this summer I want to

a) intern here in Atlanta
b) go home to California and relax
c) go home to California and intern
d) go on a study abroad in England
e) go on a vacation in Scandinavia with my mom

And I have no idea what the hell is going on... BAH.

haha, yeah that sounds good too. I actually just got an email back from the firm I really want to work for saying they were still in the process of deciding and they'd probably know next week. WOO!

First let me say that I am not trying to be an asshole here, but comments like that might get you and your bud banned from doing the Road Atlanta event and possibly any CCA event. They are not rubbing and bumbin racing by any stretch. Personally I consider someone the gheyness when they claim a school is racing. Only means they havent done any real racing yet. Having done both trust me when I say they are not the same.

Call it what it is, your doing a school and a lapping day, NOT RACING. It also isnt a race team unless the team has actually entered a race at some point, lol. :confused

I instruct for Peachtree, so I am very aware of what the friday lapping day is.

Yeah, "rubbin and bumping" is the TOTALLY wrong way to approach a DE.

Once, a guy in our group was all "this sucks, I'm sick of passing all you guys. I need to move up a group." We all looked around. He's not passing me, is he passing you? We could not figure out who he was passing. Anyhow, he takes matters into his own hands, and sneaks out in the next higher run group.

Goes off at T3, skids across the grass and totals a brand new 350z.

For the record, he did have some nifty G-Force boots.

It's not rubbin and bumpin, everyone want to takes their car home with them. And, when you think you've mastered it, when you think you are the fastest, when you lose that humilty and learning attitude, you become a danger to yourself, and others.

O man thats bad, lol. Did you sunburn your head too much in that Z4 already? :lol

Yea, I dont like to bust on somebody when they are into doing the track thing, but several times it has been mentioned here about getting ready to race etc and I knew he was talking about a drivers school. Do not get the two confused and dont go to the track thinking your racing. It is the quickest way to get sent home and possibly banned from any events if you are bragging about it.

Some might take it as your being boastful, I think just overly excited about a track weekend. Call it for what it is and have fun.

so about this Installfest...

Two things:
1) Is a differential rebuild (if necessary) and swap too involved for the shop/install fest? Would it take too long?

2) About the CDV removal's: I got mine removed at Harrison Motorsports, and they did an excellent job, in good time too! The CDV removal is a fun mod, although after about a week, you lose the 'new mod' feeling. That much hated delay/jerk in the disengaging the clutch is great to have gone, and I'd never go back. :stickoutt

If you guys want one soon, the new space won't be ready in time. (unless you want to do it *real* soon, as in with basically nothing in there. Just a dry place with a jack and many jack stands.) Ideally I'll want to have the floor prepped this week though. Hopefully epoxied this week too, which could mean the floor is ready next week... so possibly the shop "mostly ready" at the end of next week.

The old space could be available though. But its hella-packed.

For the diff rebuild question, I assume its just an LSD in need of new discs? if so, it'd be long, but not impossibly so. Probably just an extra hour or two over the diff swap time.

On the rebuild subject, when is said "rebuild" i guess i really meant just to do whatever is necessary when after purchasing a used diff (open), changing the fluid and installing. I don't/won't know if it needs to be rebuilt until it arrives.

heh, ok. Fluid change is all that'll need. Unless its leaking, in which case replace the leaking seal(s). easy stuff. open diffs need little to no maintenance beyond fluid changes at relatively extended intervals.
