View Full Version : Power steering fluid?? Giants9595 03-09-2006, 01:10 AM My power steering fluid cap on my 1997 740IL says ATF Oil Only. I have heard that Dexron III ATF oil is the right and best stuff to use. Is this true? Also, my fluid is about an inch too low so I need to top it off with mroe fluid. Is there anything specific I need to be careful of when toping off the power steering fluid?? movindirt 03-09-2006, 01:38 AM Don't use brake fluid or at least not much of it. A teaspoon can be used to help seal some PS systems but I would never do that unless it is just a beater. SQ Bimmer 03-09-2006, 01:42 AM Any dexron III atf will work.
