I've talked with a few shops now,and am considering doing some standard, first step upgrads to my 330. Trick is I'm getting different things from everyone and was directed here by one of the shops to get a large audience opinion. I've of course got all the Dinan quotes from the dealer but from what I've read its over rated and over priced.

Car: 2001 330ci Sport Convertible

Exhaust:

Supersprint xpac with street muffler or Borla? True cat back, not just the muffler. Boorla is cheaper but I've had one guy tell me it's crap. I've concerned though about making the car so loud that you can't hear the stereo with the top up and windows closed. I want it to sound mean, but not wake the neighbors every time I start it...and I DON'T want it to sound like a rice burner.

Cold Air Intake:

Racing Dynamics or K&N? RD is cheaper and a race shop tells me there shouldn't be a difference. Also mentioned Group M and AFE as well as some behind the bumper rig that was better but "more expensive".

Clutch and Flywheel:

JDM Lightweight flywheel with stage I, or UUC with m-5 hybrid? The guy with the UUC stuff sounded like he might be trying to sell me a bit on this.

I'm sure this stuff is asked in here twice a week, but I hope to get input on these specific products as that's what I'm being sold locally.

You know you are in the M3 forum. On my car I have the borla mufflers and I love them because they are quiet unless you are on it and then I have the K&N intake and I have no complaints with it
