I want to have a cleaner front end on my '97 840Ci but I heard that if you remove the front license plate framework, the mid-bumper louvers on either side have nothing to attach to. Is there a way to 1) remove the license plate framework and 2) attach the louvers?
Thanks for any input/advice.

the bolts that hold the plate frame are under those left/right coverings on either side of the plate frame...
go to realoem.com-vehicle trim-bumper-licence plate frame and that should give a good look at it...remove pieces 5 and 6 to get at the bolts and order #7 to replace of the plate frame...(if you have original bumper)...
hope this helps,it does look much nicer without it....

Racing Dynamics (don't remember which one) once upon a time sold a fiberglass filler that made the license plate delete look natural.
They have been showing up on E-bay periodically. None there now.

My first post! Glad to be part of 8 series BMW forum!
I have actually just bought a front end license plate cover, the european long one, for $30. Dealer's price is $451... I guess I got a good deal. I always liked the european version...Now Im looking for a front end skirt but cant seem to find one!

Oops, also a BIG thank you to E31power. I just ordered the part (GRID) to replace the license plate frame. You rock!
I did not know that website existed.
Cheers, Doug.
