I had a tire shop balanced all four tires about a month ago. Just last Monday I had all four brake pads replaced on a different mechanic shop. He had a problem taking of the tirelock off, because the previous shop I took it to have the tire balanced, stripped the threads and used a air tool to force the lug nuts in place. The lug nut broke and a piece is still inside. It ended up costing me more money, because he spent 2 hours more trying to take off the tirelock.
Is there a tool to take off the half piece lug nut stuck inside? The tire shop who balanced the tire should be responsible and should pay for the charges?

Yeah and no, the problem is you cannot prove much because it is a litle too late and they might not let you claim anything like that. As for taking out the lug nut, ouch that is a bitch, your worst case senario, get ready to lose your either your wheel, or you might need to get new bots that keep your wheel on your axle.

I'm going to try anyways and see what they can do for me, if not, at least I tried. the mechanic who did my brakes is getting a tool to take it out, I just hope nothing else breaks.:eyecrazy

Not sure if I understand what happend, but they have these sockets for sale that the more you turn them counterclock wise the more it will bite into the material. It helped me remove some rounded off bolts and stuff.
Hope you get some compensation back.

I took the car back and told them the problem. They fixed the stuck piece of lug inside the thread and gave me new lock nuts. So it worked out after all.:)
