View Full Version : Local Question: Recycling Ink Jet Printer?

Ordinarily, I would just heave the thing into a dumpster, but I figured I'd at least ask: Anyone know where to take an old, decrepit, thoroughly deceased ink jet printer around here for "proper" disposal?

And if anyone has a Lexmark printer that uses #20 Color and #70 Black ink cartridges, I've got a spare Color (unopened), and a used-for-one page Black one, to which you are welcome, gratis.

Go Office Space on it.

Check with the local govt/civic organizations. We have a program here to recycle the ink cartridges. Not sure about the printer itself though.

give it to your neighbors.

Then again, you'd need to give them a computer too :lol

DW you sound more like this: "So, I got this Z4 now, and I am just feeling so peachy. I do not want to hurt the environment that my car is going to be driving in, so I will do this the proper way."

I actually did not know that you technically weren't suppose to just toss them in the trash. I know monitors definately shouldn't but printers and computers I had no clue.

Yeah, I'm such a hippie. :stickoutt

Like I said, that was my first idea... but I'd read an article about some of the materials that are used in computers and electronics, and just figured I'd check around.

The trash guy hasn't been here yet, though, so there's still time.

give it to your neighbors.
Then again, you'd need to explain what a a computer does too.
Fixed for hillbilly accuracy. :silly

Yeah, apparently, there are a bunch of heavy metals and other toxic substabnces in things like PCs, monitors, cellphones, keyboards, PDAs, etc. etc. One of the local news channels also did a piece on some outfit in the metro ATL area who specializes in recycling such stuff.

But don't mistake me for someone who gives that much of a rat's hindquarters about it...

I believe the term for today's eco-wackos is "watermelon." Green on the outside, red on the inside.

Doctor Wha != a greenie. Or a commie. Or a watermelon.

Post it on craigslist. I am sure some loser will give you $5-10 for it.
