Hey, I just got my 97 540 last night. I have a question reguarding suspension. I noticed by the battery that there is a fuse for "AIR SUSPENSION". Does this car come with it? If it does come with it, 1: do I need to turn anything off before lifting the wheels up when putting it on a lift? 2: I was getting off an exit, it was off a highway and it was down hill, I heard a groaring there as if there was a motor of some sort, then it stopped, could it have been the air suspension leveling out because the front end was dipped when slowing down semi hard? Thank you.

they all have a marking for the fuse location labled "air suspension", though not all cars have it. do you definitely have a fuse in the designated spot for the option? if so, then it most likely has it. try searching for air suspension and see what info comes up.

yes, there is a fuse in the slot, also, yesterday I did hear some kind of motor when I was breaking for a while going down hill.

Also, does anyone know any sites where I can put in my VIN and find out what options I have? Thanks again.

From what I understand:
Self-leveling suspension adds various components that control an "air spring" version of the strut.
It is common on the Touring models.
If you have self-levelling suspension, you should find a small air pump in the metal tower in the center of your spare wheel well and the appropriate air springs on the rear suspension.

P.S. If you guys have any tips or tricks your willing to share please feel free. I did hear of a web site that you can put in your VIN and it gives you all your car's options, does anyone know of this site?
