The buyer or seller?
Maybe the buyer pays for it if it comes out clean, the seller if it comes out bad?
thanks for the input, this is important as i am going tomorrow morning with this guy to get it inspected...PLEASE INPUT
THANKS!!!

the buyer pays for it for sure-however if it checks out you might get the seller to knock that off price when all is said and done- good luck call it a day

In a private sale, it's whatever you guys agree to. Ask him if he'll split the cost with you.

It probably depends on how much interest the car is getting. If I were selling and had lots of calls & interest I wouldn't take on any of the costs associated with a PPI, however if I were in a hurry then I would assume the responsibility of picking up the tab.

With dealers, expect to pay either way but with private sellers you can negotiate.

Pre Purchase Inspections should be paid for by the buyer and it should be done at an unbiased shop - not the shop where the seller always takes the car.

buyer pays. and never at the shop where the PO takes the car.

ended up splitting it basically. Not goiing to buy the car, but a good experience anyway. But yeah, private party i'd now say definitely try to get the seller to pay some if not most of it, may as well try.

Offer to split, get their half first and have then add their half to the price if it fails At least you get half if it fails. Offer them a copy either way although if it fails you examination they may not want it.
