nope certified copies only. That means county issued copy or original.
Check though, it has been a year since I went.

yup goto the post office to get your passport...think they'll even take ur pics there.

Its expensive...think normal processing is about $90 and u may need expedited processing which is double.

eh the cost isn't that much of a bother to me... the trip is 100% free... all inclusive including extra things to do.... so paying a little extra to get my passport is fine with me :)

i'll hit em up tomorrow right after work

Yep, you do need a passport for interior Mexico - border cities you can still use just your DL at customs checkpoints. Easiest place for passports will be the Post Office (make sure your local office has a passport office, they don't all have tehm) and you will have to expedite processing as normal time is 6-8 weeks. They can take your pic there or you can bring pics you have done at Walgreens or CVS (cheaper). Expedited passports take roughly 2 weeks if you overnight docs and request that they overnight them back and you pay for it all, but they will not guarantee that it will only take two weeks - any number of things can hold up the processing and it can take up to 4. (Example: my husband has a top secret security clearance and some other military crap and it apparently takes longer doing the background check with that even though you would think it'd be faster so it took him like 9 weeks to get his passport last year). They do offer 7-10 day processing too, for an even larger fee of course. Best resource: http://www.usps.com/passport/

Yes... anyplace that's not a border town you definitely do need a passport as of 2006. You could have gotten away with the DL and official copy of your birth certificate up until last year.

I just went to Mexico last month and only needed my DL and birth cert., but it would be easier just to get a passport.

Who says you have to show them how much liquor you brought back? ;)

Get a passport. Trust me you'll need it again before it expires in 10 years. Esp for fleeing the country after you have dumped the body.

Granted, in my line of work I carry mine with me all the time. By Sunday I'll have 8 new stamps in 10 days but I was hoping to ditch it back in good ole USofA in a few weeks
