View Full Version : Radio Code.. A bad Dealer...
TheBlueB 03-06-2006, 06:22 PM I had my radio code but I lost it.. so I called the dealer to issue me the radio code again that I purchased two years ago from them and they said they do not keep the radio codes. Then they said I have to purchase a code again and they are asking $81 for a radio code . Is it true? This dealer is located in San Jose, CA.. it's called Stevens Creek BMW.
Anybody knows where can I get a radio code with a cheaper price than the dealer? Let me know.. Also I have a new deck to replace with my old one.. do I still need a radio code to replace a new headunit?
Thanks in Advance..
infamous 03-06-2006, 06:57 PM thats BS. All you need to do is pull out the radio and look in the back for a serial number. Then read them the number and they get you the code from their data base. At least thats what happened when i had to get my radio key.
clex2 03-06-2006, 07:02 PM Yup, complete B.S. Any dealer can easily look it up in the database. $81, ridiculous.
volcomnator999 03-06-2006, 07:58 PM i got mine for free....thats BS...btw u dont need to pull out ur radio....on my 328i the guy just pressed the button M on the right hand side for about a minute and then the S/N appeared on the screen...then he just got the code from the computer...and i had to wait for an 1hour with my car turned on and BAM!!! it asked me to enter the code and MY RADIO WAS ALIVEEE!!!! so yeah screw that dealer

Hammer03 03-06-2006, 08:15 PM fwiw the 81 bucks was probably a fee for removing the radio. i know some dealerships on other cars do that, even though it isnt always necessary.

lovesm3s 03-09-2006, 03:03 AM but seriously 81 bucks to look up a radio code is a bunch of crap in my opinion. it only takes up like 1/4 of an 8.5" by 11". And it only takes 2 mins at most. Log on, search, wait, and print.
Mechanic69 03-09-2006, 11:52 AM Did you get it to work? Still need the code? Let me know the serial # if you still need the code...

Yo, do you have a computer program for radio codes or did you have to score that from the dealership? It would be really helpful to have access to codes!!
SR20Fastback 07-19-2007, 03:41 PM used to work for the dealer, unfortunately they revoked my dcs account :(
