It was ncie meeting everyone! I had a great time and looking forward to the next one. I need to go back to run it with the Shark software and Conforti intake...hopefully they will make some improvement.

Thank you Jesse for setting this up!:buttrock

hey,

Well the run I had was totally out of whack and my ride needs some serious tuning. The A/F ratio was horrible + the Supercharger starts to get hard boost from 4kRPM, which I knew. Probably gonna have to send the SC to Powerdyne :mad

John suggested to find out what kind of engine mods the car has (I do have a list from previous owner)
Technically the car should put out around 340HP according to what I heard.

I also found out today that some guy named Nick had re-burned a software on a chip some time ago. I'd have to contact him to retune my ride. Not sure yet who he is though.

Ahh, here is the print out, click on Dyno.

wow those afr's are really lean. what's hard boost? how much psi are you running? i have a chip for a 95 m3 for 8.5 psi for sale if you need. its for a rotrex but ive seen people switch chips on different units and have them work.

I know I am getting around 7 psi at full throttle around 6.8Krpm. Supposidely should be getting 9psi cause it's got 9lb pulley.
At 4.3kRPM I can feel the Supercharged getting full power - pulls hard from then on.

yep I know it's lean (what kind of stuff gets damaged?).

The car has an RMS Software. Are you saying that by simply switching a chip would make a difference? Is it a matter of just swapping it? I thought it was more complicated.
Can you PM me for the price and details, I might buy it, do you have a try-it - then buy-it policy? lol

with those afr's your looking at a total meltdown. i wouldn't even drive like that. you want you afr's to be around 12.5-11.5 when under boost. since your not making full boost you should be running rich not lean. it sound like a software problem. btw you can try before you buy. good luck pm me with any questions.

Yeah that is horribly lean. Many issues can quickly develop if you drive your car hard like that - including a head re-build. :nono

I wouldn't drive the car much over 3500-4000 rpms until you get it resolved. Glad to know the AFRs where available to you guys. Now I know that the tailpipe AFRs are a little lean than O2 bung AFRs, but seriously not any more than .5 lean. You're still in the red.

Do you know if the injectors have been updated with 24lb or 21.lb injectors? I know high flowing stock M3s go up to 21.5lb injectors; you may want to look into 24lb injectors or higher. This is on top of new software...

Only 6? Glad we had a good turnout though. Was John pissed that only 6 dynoed? Or was he glad because he was there by himself?

No way was I pissed. I was glad to see we had a descent turn out. I know how dissapionting it is for you when you schedule this kind of thing and get alot of response, then come game day, 1/4 or 1/2 the guys show. It's actually fairly common. Only the "sanctioned" clubs have huge turn-outs. Check our dyno calender and come out for the Ferrari day. That one is always a blast. They usually come out in big numbers, some to show and some to run.

Had a great time as I always do running Bimmers. Looking forward to running you guys agian!

Glad to hear it. I know that I told you we'd have about 12 guys there.

Hey John,

I am actually updating our PNW FAQ and Local shop info in this forum. To what extent do you do repair/installs and such? I know you guys do installs because you told me about the two S/C installs you were doing - are you guys full service? If a guy wanted to pop by because he was throwing a CEL and just wanted to check it out could you do check it for him without an hours shop time or something? We are looking for a few safe "Haven" type shops that can help out when an enthusiast needs a little help.

Thanks!

EDIT: John, this is the FAQ I am talking about. We are trying to get it Parked so it's always there for the PNW guys/girls. http://bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=495991 We have you guys listed in 3 spots for our BMW needs.

I wish I coulda gone to watch. Looks like the turnout wasn't too bad. That's a pretty average number for a smaller group. Carb Conn is always fun and John is awesome. Partly because he's a bimmer freak (especially E36). Im gonna try hard to get to the next one.

Thanks again, John. Really appreciate your patience. Next time I'll remember to bring the Shark Injector with me. Looking forward to going back there again!

No that is a falsehood; it's something that car salesmen used to tell their customers as a safety feature. It's a bullshit claim made by car-salesman. Believe me, I used to be a Sales Consultant at Bellevue Hummer. Now car salesmen are specifically told NOT to tell customers that because it isn't true, and if a car DID catch in fire it's a liability to the dealership if the salesman says that. The automaker regional trainers trained us to not to say it is a 'fire blanket'. It deadens sound coming from the engine bay; that's all it does.

If it was truly a fire-retardant blanket, why would the M3 LTW models come without one? Wouldn't they be at more of a risk of fire than a run-of-the-mill production model? It's a pretty strong statement when a car that had excess stuff removed to be used pretty much only for Motorsport events doesn't come with a hood-liner.

Oh, and this is what the salespersons used to tell customers. They used to say that during an engine bay fire, the plastic clips that hold the hood liner up actually melt and allow the hood liner to drop down, essentially helping to suffocate or snuff out the fire. Unfortunately when a whole bunch of cars that had engine bays catch on fire were found after the fact with the heat-resistant hood liner clips still not melted, and the hood liner still in place, they had to answer a lot of questions. :D So if you ever get a guy telling you that while he's demonstrating a car to you ask for someone else or just walk away because the guy either doesn't know his product knowledge, or he's going to continuously lie to you to make a sale.

Actually we all had our beauty covers off for the dyno runs. Jon hooked something up to the first coil pack.

The only reason why I have my hood liner on is because most intakes with heat shields work better with them. The liner helps seal with the head shield. I had mine off for a few weeks but ended up putting it on back on. I liked it off because you could hear the motor better.
