Hi All,

Enjoying my 97 840 ci (70k miles) that I have owned for 2 weeks.

I figured when buying a used car with mileage, there would be some issues to be addressed.

Really the only things i have noticed over the past 2 weeks is:
1. the throttle seems a little sticky or stiff, are there any lube points, etc?
(Is this even a cable linkage or computer controlled??)

2. the car seems to pull a bit to the right at 65mph and up. stock tires, some wear, but they look even and pressure is correct.

I am going to take to the dealer next week to have him address. I always like to have some idea what i, or he, is talking about.

any input on potential causes for the above would be greatly apppreciated.
thanks

Hi
First thing the dealer will want to talk about is how thick your wallet is:(

On a lighter note, The cable throttle on the 840 is easily accessible for lubrication. All of the cables connect to the throttle body on the drivers side just under the front of the top engine cover.

Check the black cable for the cruise control where it comes from the actuator too. Starts behind the drivers headlight and heads over to the motor cover -there is a recall if it is broken.

Check to be sure that the pedal is not binding on the floor mat or carpet first. While you are checking that work the pedal by hand and listen for squeaking or dragging sounds coming from the pedal area.

If the suspension is stock the dealers alignment is adequate. If the springs or struts have been changed they will probably whine at you.

The best alignments are from places that have the latest Hunter machines (7000-8000 series) and you should ask for 1 to 1 1/2 degree camber setting in the front rather than the stock 0.8 degree setting. this will improve tire life.
