Hi All,
A friend of mine has a 1971 2002 carburated in pretty good shape. Runs very strong, has Bilstein HDs and lowering springs and sway bars. The interior needs work. Ripped seat covers. He has offered to sell it to me for $4k. Is that a good price for a non tii?. I know some restored tiis go for good money, but what about regular 02s?. And is the carburated cars reliable for daily driving?.
I have bought a 5speed tranny and Recaro seats for my tii, would the value of the car be increased or decreased by those upgrades?. Any help on these are appreciated.:help

Carbureted cars can be very reliable daily drivers.
They're simpler than tiis.
Don't be so hung up about carb vs. tii.
Do you like the way it drives? Or, do you like the tii so much better?

Price? Depends on so much stuff that you didn't describe.
Rust, body, mechanical?

I would say for $4k that thing better be pretty dang nice. Is it restored? New paint/bodywork? No rust? Solex or Weber? Even for a nice roundy that's a pretty penny for an '02.

That kills me. Kids in our days are way fancy- carb is not reliable anymore.

Thanks for the reply. The car is in very good shape. Good paint, no rust. But the interior needs work. It runs better than my tii. Stock carbs.
