Right after I posted this I knew someone would catch that!

This is a TT S2 kit. It's not everything, but it's most of it.

Late nights! We'll see. I wish I had a garage :(

Wow, Nick has really changed the kit. The intercooler piping from the intercooler is way different than mine. Don't forget to wrap that stuff to keep the heat contained!! Looks like the manifold and exhaust housing are already at the thermal coating place. :)

My suggestion, take it how you will, is to still thermal wrap the turbine housing, the downpipe and the manifold before you install it. Anything to keep the temps down in that area since you'll need to run your wideband/wastegate lines near all of those parts.

My turbine housing and manifold were coated as well, and I had "problems". :)

Is that a new a/c line? If so, what is special about it over the oem piece?

Interesting....pictures look similar to what I have sitting in boxes in my house.... :D I'm in the process of clearing out the garage to make room for the parts so I can start the install next week.

What car is this going on? A OBD2 m3 of some sort I guess. I assume you purchased another m3 to replace your 95? What did you get?

Shuasha

Who did you use for coating?

:dunno
Well, get it thermal coated, but still use the thermal wrap on the stuff. There is wrap you can buy in 1 or 2" strips that you wrap around things. There are also kits you can buy that will wrap around the turbine housing. The thermal coating will keep some heat in, but not nearly as well as the wrap. I've touched someones exhaust with it before while the engine was running, it was impressive. When I take my stuff off, that's going on it for sure.

The downsides I've heard are that it holds in moisture, but with stainless parts as well as the temps it gets to, I'm not worried about it.

The AC line is a replacement that's bent a little differently to give more clearance between the engine and the frame rail. As Nick says, some need it, some don't.

No reason for an oil cooler on a street car as long as you upgraded the radiator. I had no problems with overheating on the track after 10 min, both needles where right where they should have been.

T60-1 Hifi, same as Stage 1. It's efficient up to 18-19 psi on our engines.

Why do you say that? There should be no parts here that are either S50 or S52 specific.

how well did it perform on the track? Was the boost manageable and predictable when going in on turns while on the throttle?

Shuasha
02-23-2006, 08:58 PM
It was very drivable, but that was me driving it at 7/10ths since it was my first time on the track with the turbo. It helped that I had the gain on the boost controller set low so that it didn't come on so hard. You just have to change the timing of when you get on the throttle, it's pretty easy.

Also, at that point I was having misfiring problems which didn't help any. The temps stayed right where they should have been though.

Big downside of the day was after the first session I had a small engine fire due to something coming loose and landing on the manifold. That was all my fault and had nothing to do with the kit. I've since sheathed everything if very heat resistant stuff.

thanks for the feedback regardless of the little fire mishap, :) i guess its very trackable then.

Simply because you're selling your car and you were asking about swapping to a m50 manifold with turbo. I also was under the impression that the stage two obd1 kit was still under development. That's what the TT site says. And something else from your "what else do I need thread" I think gave me that impression too, I'm a e-stalker. Don't mind me. Congrats on the purchase! My dad lives in Falls Church, and my car usually resides in his garage. See ya around perhaps?

You sir, have busted me.

The orignal plan was to put the TT on this 95 M3. Unfortunately though, it will be sold.

Future car TBD, I guess we'll just see where things go. I'll let you know when I sell the 95.

Falls Church FTW :buttrock

Actually the Stage 2 OBD-I kit is ready. It's just tuning and a few other things that are different.

The site states that OBD-2 stage 1 is ready and 2 is under development. It says OBD-I isn't out yet.

It's only because Nick is too busy to update the site. With a waiting list, he doesn't need to for business!
