View Full Version : Autoscope SUCKED for my first visit......!!!!
RoadsterMike 02-22-2006, 11:31 PM I went up there today (first time visit) to order some parts that I very well may have ordered on line but I thought I would keep the spending habits in the local economy. I was told by this friendly but unknowledgeable chap that they were too busy in the back and that they could not be disturbed. Then he asked me to leave my name so someone could call me tomorrow.
Now here's my arrogant answer: I am a 39 yr old dude, well dressed and sporting the Platinum Amex with no credit limit and ready to blow some cash and the "front boy" (think he was a geisha in a previous life) dismisses the super clean car, my travel time to their shop and that fact that they missed at least $1500 in sales and had they matched the Dinan discount it may have been upwards of $6000.00.
Too bad for you busy boys at Autoscope!
My two little companies have been referral only for 15 years and it goes to show you that the guy who asks for and appreciates the work gets the work.
WON"T EVER GO THERE AGAIN !!!
:nono :nono
SecretAznSauce 02-22-2006, 11:34 PM if you are looking for stock parts. LMK. makes you happy, makes me happy, keeps the local economy robust.
I know what you mean by referrals, I get a lot of them. I've actually sold 1 guy 5 cars within last 3 years. and he's sent me 3 other customers
Iron Chef 02-22-2006, 11:47 PM I would understand them acting like that if you called or something but when you physically go there, they shouldn't dismiss a customer like that. I've been there before and it was a good experience. Sorry to hear your's wasn't.
hinzm3 02-23-2006, 12:24 AM Eh, Nerces (sp) doesnt really need your money he has enough :)
EXtech 02-23-2006, 01:31 AM I have had numerous customers of mine say the exact same thing almost verbatim and I've personally experienced it... :mad and this kind of disrespectful customer service is just one of the reasons I opened my own shop, next to the fact that I absolutely love what I do and have for nearly 14 years.
I would be more than glad to earn your business. You are more than welcome to stop by and chat up a storm with me, order parts or just hang out. My new building is about a week away from completion (921 J Place, Suite 200 - in east Plano) but if you want to come by our soon to be old shop, give me a call at 469-767-3309 and I'll give you directions.
RoadsterMike 02-23-2006, 01:38 AM Great for you guys and thanks for the invite, I will take you up on it.

bcausseaux 02-23-2006, 02:22 AM Hey I live in Plano and have had the coupe for about a year. I have been looking for a great (plenty of good shops out there) independent shope for the car. I will come see you guys next month after you get settled in :)
Teaguer 02-23-2006, 10:44 AM and the "front boy" (think he was a geisha in a previous life) dismisses the super clean car
Is Franklin working up there again ??? :D
EXtech 02-23-2006, 10:59 AM balis///M: That sounds like Rob and you're right, he is a really nice guy. Call me before you head over, the directions/address on our website is for our new place which may/may not be quite ready when you head over. I will give you directions to the location we're at now.
becausseaux: You're welcome to come check the place out anytime. I'll post a thread when the new place is done and the same for you, if you want to come by sooner then let me know.
Thanks guys! See you soon!
MCM97 02-23-2006, 11:07 AM EXtech - pimp yourself real quick. What kinds of things will your shop be doing and what kinds of product lines will you carry? mostly the stuff in your sig?

I'll hit you up for some ZEX when I get back. I like purple and need nitrous.
weaksauce 02-23-2006, 11:33 AM Why don't we have a meet at your new shop when you get fired up? We could have a beer drinking/BBQ lunch type thing.
Bimmerista 02-23-2006, 11:35 AM Thanks guys! See you soon!
I would really think it'd be awesome if you did an 'open house' kind of thing for your business. I know the RUF Centre in Carrollton has done this several times to bring in new customers & it has worked them wonders.
EXtech 02-23-2006, 11:36 AM All major and minor repairs, all maintenance and everything performance (engines, superchargers, suspension, software, exhaust, turbos, nitrous, clutches, brakes etc). We are working on our own line of products from superchargers to turbos, shifters and more. This will be some time out as the design and engineering take forever. One thing that I am very excited about is that we are working on our own tuning software. This will give me the ability to fully tune all ECU/DME's for various levels of performance, unfortunately there is no eta yet, possibly towards Sept. or Oct. We don't do alignments in house, but I have a guy a few doors down that does all of my alignments for me. I have the best body shop in Dallas/Ft Worth I send my customers to and also have a tint guy. So basically, anything that you need we can do.. and right.
I carry.. UUC Motorwerks, Active Autowerks, Schrick, Eisenmann, BB Exhaust, SPEC Clutches, Brembo, AC Schnitzer, Technik Engineering, VF Engineering, Toyo, Bilstein, Sachs, NOS, Nitrous Express, ZEX, KW Suspension, B&G Suspension, KYB, Tokico, Eibach, H&R.. I'm sure I'm missing a few but the bottom line is that if I'm not currently set up with a particular manufacturer that you want, I will make it happen. Of course we carry everything OEM.
I hope this answers your questions... now it's time to go wrench :buttrock
EXtech 02-23-2006, 11:44 AM I'll hit you up for some ZEX when I get back. I like purple and need nitrous.
ahhahaha
Funny things about the meet idea. We're planning the details right now on a big ole shin dig towards the end of April/beginning of May (weather will be much better and it also gives us time to get up and running). I've got a really good rock band coming out from Louisiana, we'll have food <BYOB>, prizes, a big oil change day (30% off) and I'm considering having an actual car show with trophies. There are a couple other "finer" details I'm working on right now but can't spill the beans just yet. Everyone will be welcome to come out.

Patrón 02-23-2006, 11:55 AM Did they ever call you back? I would call and ask to speak to the owner and tell him exactly what happened after telling him/her what parts/service you wanted to purchase. Tell him you are taking your business elsewhere.

No I have not received the magic callback this morning. I think I will print this thread and throw it in the mail to them. That should drive the point fairly well.

Sounds good, but what's your hourly rate?
MCM97 02-23-2006, 12:12 PM the open house sounds very cool. Make sure you post it here before it goes down. I might need to talk to your body guy. I have an little dent in the area below the plate I want worked out but I believe that is the part that holds the lights in. Got a number for the guy??

I would guess so. He's always the one answering the phone
killerbee 02-23-2006, 06:04 PM Hi Mr. Blacker,
I would like to apologize. I’m sorry we didn’t get back you sooner, that is definitely not our intention. I asked Jerry if he’d called you? He apparently was given the wrong number, so he couldn’t reach you.
I personally was out due to a rotator-cuff surgery, but am in the office today.
We would love to get a second shot at pleasing you and I’ll personally promise that you will be happy.

EXtech 02-23-2006, 10:15 PM Weaksauce: It will be little while until I do have the tuning capabilities so I would suggest Active Autowerke's HFM upgrade chip. I wouldn't worry so much about "disarming" the timing advance for the Nitrous. Use plugs two heat ranges colder (depending on the amount of NO2 used) and allow the Zex unit (assuming you're using zex) to add the additional fuel as needed. The larger MAF/injectors will also help, and all together keep you out of harms way (detonation). Toning down the timing advance will make the car feel piggish when you're off the bottle.
Iron Chef: Our labor rate is $75/hr
MCM97: I will certainly post details for the car meet far enough in advance so everyone will have ample time to plan for it. The body shop is Details, LTD., Ronald (Ron) Philleaux is the owner. They do excellent work. The phone number is (972) 392-2277, address is 15508 Midway Road, Addison, Texas 75001. Website is www.detailsltd.com (http://www.detailsltd.com).
UDM Motorsport: Yes, I most certainly can get the RA1's. Also the T1S, T1R, Proxes 4, FZ4 and all the others.

I refuse to use AA. After the bad experiances others have had in conjunction with a phone call I placed to them. No way.
As for the NO2, I have a direct port wet kit that I'm planning on spraying a 100 shot with. It is right on the verge of being concerning for me. I will be running a seperate fuel cell for the wet part with race gas in it, but I want to take every precaution possible.
Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to try a Unichip in the meantime.
Jeff
EXtech 02-24-2006, 11:12 AM Yikes, sorry to hear that. I'm curious, what exactly happened between you and AA? send me a PM. If you're using a 100 wet system with a stand alone fuel system and race gas... shiii I wouldn't worry about it. Just jet the fuel side generously. Use a wideband/AF gauge and fuel pressure gauge. Monitor the signs and just make sure you're not leaning out in the upper rpms. If your gauge dips low, let off the button and re-jet.

Yeah, I'm going to ad an A/F guage on the pillar soon anyway. I still need to gather all my stuff. The only thing I have right now is teh direct port manifold and the distribution blocks. Any used stuff laying around?

You're not planning on a narrowband AFR gauge that uses your stock O2 sensors are you? Those things are beyond worthless, as they only tell you if you're richer or leaner than stoich. When you're on the throttle you don't want to be anywhere around stoich.
I think AEM reduced the pricing on their gauge style wideband recently, so that's a good option if you like that style. I think it's around $250.

Shit son - you haven't even seen the Nissan. It's got gauges out the ass and I tuned it all by my lonesome. Drives better than stock. :buttrock

EXtech 02-27-2006, 09:06 PM Weaksauce: what do you need? I do have some nitrous parts I think, maybe a few nozzles, solenoids, lines, various relays.. I'll have to dig through some boxes.
weaksauce 02-28-2006, 09:49 AM Weaksauce: what do you need? I do have some nitrous parts I think, maybe a few nozzles, solenoids, lines, various relays.. I'll have to dig through some boxes.
All I have right now is the wet nozzles and the fuel and N2O distribution blocks.
I need lines, tanks, solenoids, relays, switches, purge...etc.
EXtech 03-01-2006, 01:30 AM maybe I've been sniffing too much NO2... I missed something.. are you using a fogger system? or a single wet nozzle?
I snooped around my box of goodies and can't find any of my solenoids and I know that I sold the tanks that I had so really all I could put my hands on are some relays, I've got a couple toggle switches and a couple -4 braided lines. The items you need though wouldn't be hard to round up.
weaksauce 03-01-2006, 08:50 AM I'm running a direct port wet kit i.e. 6 wet nozzles(fuel and N2O).
I'm probably wrong on my terminology, but that is what I asumed you call it.
EIAlfonso 03-01-2006, 05:35 PM I've been to Autoscope on many occasions and have had nothing but good service/repair experiences.
My car was just there yesterday and I had no problems, and they even accomodated me at the last minute.
Nobody's perfect.
