78 323 with electric fan.

It wont turn on, Things to check are resistor, and what else? Is there anyway to bypase the problem areas like jump the sensor or anything like that?

Thanks,
josh

try to find & bypass the fan temperature sensor....on the 320i's it's on the bottom of the radiator.

if that doesn't turn it on, it could be the relay or the fan itself.

There is a fan relay in the fuse box. One of those real small ones. The second is the thermal resistor in the bottom of the radiator or tapped into somethin else. Check the Fuse. I recomend wiring a switch to the relay that turns the fan on,so you can manually operate it. Real fun.

to check the fan: hot wire it to the battery and see if it turns.

My temp. solution.

I took the temp sensor and I connected the wires. It didnt fix my creeping problem.

My thoery:

When the fan wasnt working the car creeped, the creeping every day on the way to work damaged the thermostat. Now that the fan is fixed the thermostat is bad and I am replacing that, and my water pump at the same time. I also assume there are air pockets in the system because of the creeping heat.

I will put the new water pump/thermostat and try with coolant I know is BMW.

Thanks,
Josh
