Hello everyone.

went out this morning to start my "new" 97 840. all the windows were frosted. turned on max front defrost and rear defrost.

came out 5 minutes later. the front windows clear as can be. the rear window still frosted. did not even have the little lines one normally sees with a rear defroster.
light stayed on for 5 more minutes and then went out. by that time the sun was at my back and the window frost melted.

I assumed blown fuse (have only had the car 1 week so not overly familiar with it). I checked in the fuse box under the hood. could not locate fuse for rear defroster.

questions:
1. does anyone know what number/ where this fuse is
2. if the switch light comes on, would that mean the fuse is good (wherever it is)
3. if that is the case, then my problem is between the switch and the rear window (or the elemwnt in the window)
4. are there any wiring plugs in the trunk, etc that ,i might need to check?
if not, could thw window element be bad. i would assume that would be a costly dealer ordeal,,ie, i use a scraper from here on out.

any ideas??

Rear fuse block. Behind the carpet on the left side of the trunk (pulls inward at the top) Fuse is F41-30 Amp and it feeds thru relay K13 to the antenna amplifier.

If you can't find a fuse for something at the front then this is the place to look. The diagram of what is where in the block is on the back of the carpet.

While you are there make sure that the battery vent is connected.
