I really want to come.. I am new to the Bimmerforums and as Kyle K. has informed me, the E34 turn out is small... so maybe I could represent the E34's a little bit? The only hang up is that I might not have my car back by then... here's a little sneak peak:

Ok.... this sucks. Apparently my aunt and uncle don't want me to go to this meet... the reasons for it are a little blurry to me... apparently I'm too young, and I don't know you guys so I'm not allowed to go (these seem really damn shallow to me  ) I mean c'mon... since when can't 17 year olds talk to strangers?

Would you guys care to elaborate a little bit on the events of the day? Will there be alcohol there? Would this be considered a "family" event? Will there be any racing? They seem to think that all car meetings have to involve slutty women, drinking, and racing.... sigh

(and no... I'm not pleased about this... I just don't want to rant too much because I want to show them this thread  :complain: )

joe325i
09-28-2002, 08:20 AM

Well... I'm 46 so I guess I can be the Chaperon.
I'm bringing a cooler of Coke/Dr.Pepper etc.
I've got a 2 hour drive so there's no way I'm drinking Brewski's (I've got to dry out from Friday night anyway.)
I'm never that lucky to have (slutty/non-slutty/any) women show up at these events.
Just checkin' out the cars Mom....

Well, despite my best efforts (with some help from John, thanks for the PM bro), my aunt is still not going to let me go. I approached her politely, and asked her if I could just read her the description of the days events and what type of stuff was going to be going on there (that John was kind enough to PM to me). She still promptly replied NO, and started rattling off the same beat excuses why I couldn't go as she did in the first place, even though John's PM specifically addressed those points. After 5 words came out of her mouth, I just walked away. This is not cool, not one bit.

Anyway, hopefully you guys will have a great time there. Have fun everyone. :(

Just tell them you're going to the mall or something. Be back in a couple of hours. Probably too late now - they know what's up. When are you guys going to learn the proper way to inform your parents/aunts? Shit, I was rolling my parent's 528e (now mine) out of the driveway for joyrides when I was 16 (not legal).

Lol I don't think Kyle's aunt is going to be moved to letting him go knowing that... lol.

Anyway Kyle and I have talked a bunch and I invited him to stay with me and a few friends down in our beach house in Strathmere but if he can't go to this, he probably can't go to that.

Anywho, for those of you who don't know, I got my car back from the body shop painted. Here's a pic, im happy.

bmwmpower - The reason I didn't go about the "proper" way of getting there is that my dad and mom are totally cool about stuff like this. They figure that I'm old enough to do whatever the hell I please, and if I fuck up it's on me. I'm cool with that system. My aunt and uncle are fuckin crazy though.... so whatever. I'm definately not "asking" their permission anymore... what they don't know won't hurt them :D

And yeah, I doubt I'll be joining you guys down in Strathmere  Oh well.

We should try and consolidate some information. I run the site for the DC/VA/MD folks. I drove up to NJ and talked briefly with John about combining efforts and including DEL/NJ/NY/PA folks into the website and changing the name......thoughts?

The website in my sig obviously ;)

I run an email list called Z3 Rides on Yahoogroups. It's not just for Z3s, it started because there used to be not many events that allowed Z3s... we're Z3 Sluts, we'll ride with anyone who will have us.

I am not sure what subscribing to the forum just did, maybe now I will get an email any time anyone posts a new thread (a new event?) and that will help me big time.

Next problem is how an event evolves on a thread. At the beginning it may be meeting at one place, on one day, but by the end it might mean a diferent place or day or be canceled.

I got browser problems, I admit that freely. Even with high speed access, a modicum of computer knowledge and high motivation to know what's going on I still can't make it through the posts to get the information.

There's an event on DTMPower net I just gave up on because I kept reading and reading and still couldn't figure out where it ended up.

With 250 members on the list nationwide, there is no way I can read all the threads on all the events to get the information out to the list.

I don't know how people on dial up do it at all.

I am looking for in the Subject line:
DATE STATE and three words to describe the event- especially if it is restricted to certain models of cars.

(That saves people time from opening an email at work only to find an event is X5 only in Kansas while they drive a Mini in Minneapolis.)

Then inside the post (ONE POST) or email WHERE WHEN and WHO to contact, and HOW MUCH if appropriate.

Gimmie that info and I will send it out to Z3 Rides (or you can) linking back to the thread here.

btw I have an event this Oct 12 and 13th in Pennsylvania called HouZes of the Holy, we stil have a few spots left for lovers or cars and architecture and art. I would appreciate Cabby and John's help getting the word out to their peeps. We have people coming up from Maryland and down from NY. brb with a link to it.

Rachel- peddling as hard as I can to keep up :)

Again, sorry I missed this event.
---------------------
OK found my thread for HouZes of the Holy on Bimmerforums:

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49472

Hope to see some of you there!

Thanx!! We went public about 3 weeks ago and have gotten about 35,000 hits, so we are pretty pleased with how it's been accepted.

Plans for the future are to get all East Coast folks to join up and we can break the events down and keep everyone informed. The site has huge potential, there is a lot of good information on there. Galleries, links, downloads, calendars and such. I have been putting all the East Coast events I can find on there, so we have a bit of a head start. We have the bandwidth and space to blow it up so please spread the word.

We also plan on adding a domain name such as eastcoastbmw.net once we really get going. Of course our kicks-ass.net address will always work too :D

Rachel

OK... I am signed up... now for questions that might have obvious answers....

where can i find the events that are already listed?

Can I send in my own events?

You can find a list of all the events I know about on the Caranostra.org events board and you are welcome (and begged) to update it with your events, 'cause that is what I will be doing when I find your events... and of course you are welcome to add them to the kick ass site (argh cant see the url from the "reply" form)

Is there some place here that has the kick ass site and all the other regions' event sites?

Great domain name
eastcoastbmw.net

although I need to know about ALL events everywhere 'cause I travel a lot. I just rode with the Z3s in the UK, will be posting 44 pages of photos of Sheep... and cars...

so all events welcome on Caranostra events and ya dont have to register to post em.

(I will correct any subject headings to conform to DATE and STATE format)

You can get to the events page by going to the Caranostra.org message board and using "Jump To" or the link in the header for "Events"

Or just bookmark this page:
http://pub96.ezboard.com/fourthingfrm3

Anything posted on Z3 Rides pretty much ends up here for later reference.

Man I should come up with a domain name for the Caranostra Events board...

anyway....

thanks for the help and NEXT time I will be there!

Yep, sumbit an event is a link once you are looking at the calendar, once it's approved by an admin, it's added to the calendar :)

Well, if you have been trying to check out Caranostra.org- you can't! The damn thing went down like right after you posted... hasn't ever done this before. Apparently they had some major melt down at EZboard, not even their corporate clients or their help boards are up.
