okay, you guys are probably just about as tired of me posting about fuel pumps as I am. anyways, would 1 fuel pump be sufficient in the e21?

Probably, but then why did the factory upgrade the earlier ones to 2 pumps? Lots of CIS systems work on one pump- some work on two. Depends on how good the pickup system is in the tank. I wouldn't run without the feeder intank pump.

thanks, I was just wondering about that, because next weekend we are going to the junkyard and going to get some fuel pumps, and I wanted to make sure that it would at least be able to run with only one, until I could replace it if it were messed up.
