So,

I get my "new' 97 840 last week. I am thrilled, 69k orig miles, drives like a dream, etc.

However, i notice the rear seat center "cover" is missing.

This is the piece that is removed if the ski door is used.
why they would have this thing removable instead of flip down is amazing to me.
I am third owner. the PO never new it was missing (or so he says)
not a big deal, but of course i would like to procure another.
Grey interior, but i suppose i could get anyone recovered.
can anyone out htere give me a lead as to any 8 salavage specialists?
would the dealer still carry?

speaking of which, today on the highway i get a small stone nick in my windshield (only happens to me!)
does BMW still carry the front glass, or will i need to get some crappy aftermarket windscreen?? (I suppose this might be better for another post)
thanks
R

Hi and welcome to the world of E31s

The part you are missing is the First Aid kit cover.

For a new piece I would email Dave or Al at www.buybmw.com parts department. They discount 8 parts way below what you local dealers would.

PM me and I can give you the email address of someone who may have one or know where one is.

Or you could just put a subwoofer firing thru the hole:)

BMW glass is available. Find out who does the local BMW dealers glass and then go direct to them avoiding the Dealer markup. Around $400 installed according to someone on Roadfly.
