I have a camber issue on only the front driver side wheel.. I tried putting my 18's on and it rubs, but all the other ones fit perfect. Do i have no choice but to get a camber kit?

View Full Version : What do I do about front camber? Pofke13LT 02-17-2006, 02:33 PM I have a camber issue on only the front driver side wheel.. Hypr5 02-17-2006, 02:46 PM If you have a camber issue on only one wheel, something is bent or not right. Possibly even a bent shock holder. (I've seen this on an e21) Cacatfish 02-17-2006, 03:10 PM It is not uncommon for camber and caster specs to be off between bith sides of one car. Just individual factors and wear and tear. I personally loved my Kmac camber plates on my E34. Really helped sharpen up the turn it, plus they are asjustable so yuo can get both sides matched for camber and caster. I'm not doubting you, but do you really think it could be off enough between sides to make a 245/18 tire rub on one side and not the other? That seems fairly significant, as I've seen cars that didn't rub and the camber was visibly worse on one side. Pofke13LT 02-17-2006, 03:32 PM I have the sheet right here from the alignment: Front left: Camber Actual: -1.4 degrees Camber Specified range: [-.7]-[.3] degrees Included Angle: 11.2 degrees Front right: Camber Actual: 0.0 degrees Camber Specified range: [-.7]-[.3] degrees Included Angle: 12.1 degrees Cacatfish 02-17-2006, 03:38 PM I'm not doubting you, but do you really think it could be off enough between sides to make a 245/18 tire rub on one side and not the other? It is when caster is off that you want be concerned about prior accidents, etc. Pofke13LT 02-17-2006, 03:50 PM my caster is within specs. Cacatfish 02-17-2006, 03:57 PM Id just go with the camber plates. There may be some unusal suspension angles in the front, but you can get it all evened out and, since you have already shelled out that much for wheels, another $250 for camber plates and you can be on your way. Pofke13LT 02-17-2006, 04:03 PM Dude, shelling out another $250 is gonna take a while... I spent the last of my money on those rims.. and it doesnt look like theres gonna be any work for a while.. i am definetly screwed.:bawl Cacatfish 02-17-2006, 05:44 PM Dam, that sucks. Another option might be to find a set used, maybe a bit cheaper. You could also use a set of the factory fixed -.5 strut mounts, which will probably allow the wheel to cease rubbing, though it wont address the camber differences between the two sides. Pofke13LT 02-18-2006, 02:11 PM Im about to just go out there and beat the crap out of it with a hammer where it rubs :banghead: Htownmobaudio 02-19-2006, 09:49 PM lol ... dude just take it to an alignment place and they know how to fix it pretty cheap .. \ Pofke13LT 03-12-2006, 03:42 PM lol ... dude just take it to an alignment place and they know how to fix it pretty cheap .. \ i did, and they told me there is no fix for camber thejlevie 03-12-2006, 04:23 PM Front Left: Camber Actual: -1.4 degrees Front right: Camber Actual: 0.0 degrees Camber Specified range: [-.7]-[.3] degrees Your camber is way out. Neither side is within spec and there's a radical difference between sides. You need to have the front end inspected by a shop with lots of BMW expertise. Something is either bent or worn out. |
