View Full Version : Rim repair in Vancouver- any recommendations
nicholas 02-15-2006, 02:53 PM I need a recommendation for a rim repair place in vancouver. I sold my 325e to guy who lives on Vancouver Island and he cracked the outer lip on one of the BBS 3-piece wheels. He needs to get it repaired asap so he can pass Canadian inspection. Any help is appreciated.
German Pride 10 02-15-2006, 06:57 PM I swear by a company called Nu Brite. I wanted my set of AC Schnitzer Type II's refinished so I first took the fronts to a place that was closer to me called Greens. They basically butchered the finish up on them. Did ony half of each rim, charged full price which was already a rip off and the half they did do was poor work. Guess what happens when you do half of a wheel....it leaves a huge visible circular paint ridge around the inside of the wheel.
In conclusion contact Nu Brite. Their attitude is much friendlier as well.

I concur.
Tiptronik 02-16-2006, 01:07 AM There is also a company called Panther Industries, I believe. I've got their card at work so I'll post their info tomorrow. I've used them a few times, and if the rim isn't too bad, they do a good job.

greenlanturn 02-23-2006, 03:32 AM i've never used this place before but my friend said they're good for refinishing. another place to consider i guess. http://www.greensautomotiveltd.supersites.ca/wheelrepair/
i curbed my rims a while ago and almost went to them but in the end did DIY refinishing, hehe.
adamnur 02-23-2006, 03:36 AM Yeah I'll admit I've got some curbing :shifty

Hey, how did you DIY refinish them? Is there a DIY writeup you used?
Thanks

sup man, i used this one: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext43.shtml and it turned out pretty good.
here's my thread actually doing it: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351535&highlight=audi+DIY
certainly saves $, lol, an afternoon of sanding and painting plus ~$20 materials as opposed to $150+ for professional refinish

I saw Greens work for myself and it was piss-poor IMHO. Stick with Nu-Brite or Panther.

FTW
good service, good job, cheap.
PS, Greens quoted me something like 800 bucks for a job that cost me something like 300 or 350 at Panther a few years ago (refinish and straighten 3 19" ACS type3). Stay the hell away from Greens. I got my rims outta there as soon as I found out about panther, and when I went to get them back the guy tried to charge me 50 bucks for washing them
German Pride 10 03-10-2006, 07:18 PM I hear ya! Sounds to me like there are more bad things going on with Greens than good things.
