Just got by car back after front end repair - including new fan. Fan ran for a few minutes after I drove it home - about 15 minutes. Then went to drive it last night and fan would not quit running even after 20 minutes. It was about 37 degrees last night. Pulled 50 amp fuse to keep from running down battery. Put fuse in this morning and fan started before I could even start the car? Is something out - relay perhaps, or do you think something just isn't connected properly?

yeah normally it is a relay issue that causes the fan to run all the time.

i'm not familiar with E46s but in the E36's the fan relays are in the main fusebox. maybe ask down in the E46 section. good luck.

In the main fuse box (for a 99M3) there are two yellow relays. One of them controls the fan. Not sure if its the same for your car.

Your fuse box is on top of your glove box.

agree with above, likely a bad relay...

In the E46 the relays are hidden behind the fuse box, so in order to get to them you need to take apart the whole glove box assembly. It’s just only 6 philips screws and you can pop it out.
