here we go again, my car has oil in the coolant, I spoke with a bmw mechanic and he said the head is probably cracked, does anyone have a good used head, I dont want any old tired head on my car, also are the e21 m10 heads the same as the ones on the 02's

is santa clara anywhere near SF? My bro just found a junkyard in berkely chock full of BMW parts.. this old guy has been collecting them for ages -- no web site or anything. He's got good prices and seems under the regular 02 radar

forgive my CA ignorance.. anything south of crecent city is kind of a big blob to me ;)

You need to identify the head first. It will be casted between the 3 and 4 intake ports. Either an e12, 121, 121ti, e21 etc. Then call Marshall or Dean at Double '02 in Hayward to see if they have a good used head. Their # is 510.782.2002. Chances are they'll have the gasket set you'll need as well. Are you sure it's not just a blown head gasket that's related to the problem you had with drivability?

Ed at Bay Motor Wrecker is a character. I've known him for 20+ yrs. He really does a great business and has helped me a great deal on past projects.

Take the head off and if its bad go to a junk-yard and buy a used 2.0-1.8 liter head or like a whole engine from 320 car. Should be super cheap. Look for the ones that habe been rebuilt. I personally think its just a gasket. Heads go go bad sometimes, but not as much as the gaskets.

check the head first, coolant in the motor doesnt necesarily mean bad head. i've been workin at a vw shop for over a year and we do headgaskets non-stop, think only one has every actually needed a head. usually just a new gasket and a quick resurface and your back on the road.

I know that blocks and heads can be proffesionally welded in some places.
