"halo" refers to Halogen bulbs, which are a high filament temperature resistance type bulb. Xenon's are gas discharge bulbs that require a ballast.
The conversion to the later projector head lights with "angel eyes", which is what I assume you are looking at, is compatible with the car's electrical system. Conversion to gas-discharge headlights (Xenon's) is more complex and more expensive.
They have angel eyes with halogen and angel eyes with xenon (which you referred to as halos, correct?). If you want to convert to xenon, I think it will be compatible but you might need different wiring. If you buy new they should provide the wiring required for the conversion. I remember that you need an extra cable to power the angel eyes.
