View Full Version : The string of bad "happenings" hit me too.

I ran over something tonight. Something small.

I saw it in the road, and positioned my car directly over it in order to let it pass under the undercarriage. Well, the wind popped it up, and it hit the bottom of my car. Now my check engine light is on, and I see two bundles of wiring harness loose under my car.

I know the check engine light is for emission problems. Any ideas on what it could be? Maybe some wiring switch just popped loose.

Check your oxygen sensor and the harness to it.

Yup... I think it knocked a sensor off.

O2, no doubt. Hopefully it just disconnected the harness. It sucks to hit roadkill. The first time I came to Athens I ran over 2 small, already dead rabbits, and with my car as low as it is, the sound was not pretty. I got to school and put the car up on the lift, and there was burnt blood and hair all over my exhaust.

Same thing happened to me. It eventually rusted a hole, since I didn't notice the smell in time...

Well, it didn't hit my Borla catback, but did get to the stock cats. I am glad I waited to change out the high-flow cats with the manual swap, which should happen within the next two weeks. :redspot

I guess i need to get the car up in the air to see what i'm doing right? It was dark outside when i hit it, and i've only had enough time to get my little glove box light out to see that somehting was loose.

That sucks man, my friend did a similar thing in his car. It would probably be a good idea to get the car up on a lift. I've had some issues with my car as well. Good luck

Ha!

You know when you go to wikipedia, and type in bmw, one of the related links it pulls up after the long definition of "bmw" is unitedbimmer? Bf.c is there too. I thought it was interesting.

That site has the most incredible explanation of leet speak too.

yeah its probably the O2. And to add to the angry BMW gods list, yesterday after passing my emissions:alright , my damn upper radiator blew off somehow and lost tons of coolant less than 100 feet from the emissions place. Sorry to kinda jack the thread.

Ouch. Hopefully it'll be just an O2 sensor, as that'll only set you back ~$100.
