Well, being a college student, I don't get to use much of the money I make to fix up my 2002. But, I should be getting quite a bit back after my tax return comes in and I'm wanting to re-do the suspension. I want to lower the car, but not more than like...1 inch or so.
I'm thinking about getting either the Eibach Pro-kit springs or maybe the Bav auto springs if I can find out how much those lower the car.
I know that Eibach springs lower the car approx 1 in. but not sure about the Bav Auto springs.
For shocks, I want to get the KYB Gas-A-Just for the rear and the KYB GR-2 for the front.
Anyone using a similar combo or have any suggestions? I'm not looking for a racing suspension or anything, just something alittle beefier/sportier.
Side note: Has anyone used those James, King or Intrax coils from ebay? King seem to lower the car 1.1-1.3 in.

Gr-2's are OEM replacement, their not for lowering same as Tokico HPs. Your best bet is to get a set of Eibach's and find the strut/shock combo of your choice. The KYB Agx's are decent, bilsteins are amazing and there are a few others out there. You get what you pay for, so you should go all out and get the top of the line or else youll be doing this again next year.

KYB doesn't have an application on the AGX for the 2002 on their site...
I know Eibach doesn't have an application for the 2002 coils but they do make them.
So..do you have the part numbers for the AGX Greg?
Does anyone know if the Koni sport shocks/struts are for lowered vehicles or stock ride height?

man i'd get the bilsteins like HDs + Eibachs are a popular combo. Go for Sports if you want a stiffer ride.
Bilsteines are good for life -- I'd get a used set of those before KYBs or anything else...

I doubt KYB makes em for the 2002-e21, they might be able to do a custom order which would be pricey. I was just responding to what he said about using GR2's in the rear. OEM replacement parts do not allow for spring lowering and will blow(Gr2s, Hps and such.) The real question is, why would you use KYB if you could go with Bilstein? Bilstein OEM replacements even give a bad ass ride. I have a friend with em on his e30 and you can deff feel the road..

I have Koni adjustables on my stock height car. They are great and were cheaper than Billys (in Australia). I plan to put Koni's on my other 02 car too. Beaner7102

Greg - sorry for the confusion, I meant KYB GR-2 for the front, and gas-a-just for the rear. I was just looking at www.rockauto.com for the shock/strut prices. But I guess I can't use the KYBs anyway since they won't handle a lowered setup.
Beaner - the reason I ask is I want a small drop but something comfortable and sporty. I plan on taking my 2002 on long (300mi +) road trips and I think I'm sure I'll go with the adjustable for comfort on trips and stiffer option for the auto-x.
So my question is...Will Koni Sport Adjustable shock/struts on a 1" dropped ride handle the drop or not?
I like the Bilsteins, my friend as a set on his 2002...but I think I want something adjustable. They have the lifetime warranty, and don't cost much more than the Bilsteins.
Beaner - How long have you had the shocks and howmany miles have you put on them? When you change the valve adjust knob from stiffest to softest ride, is it noticable? Any problems experienced?
Thanks for all of your responces. :buttrock

I will tell you this, from having cars with adjustable setups. For a DD, its a lot easier using a non-adjustable setup. You install the parts and just get on your merry way! I suggest bilsteins for you because of a few reasons A) Ride quality is amazing B) Life time warranty, what more can I say? C) Last but not least, if you wanted to take some twisties well you still even have a stiff enough suspension to handle it. Just my opinion....Konis are nice too

As I said my car is stock height, but being adjustable they would handle a 1" drop. But the Koni I have you need to remove them to adjust (not a 10 minute job). But worth it for big drives or X-ing. The ride difference is very noticeable, about 4 months ago I had them tightened (spring are shot - using the shocks to compensate) from 50% to about 75% and its back a controlled ride. They have been on the car for approx 40k miles and still going strong. As they are oil filled (not gas like bilistiens) they can be repaired if they leak. Beaner7102
