So i ordered a custom set of DPEs. I was wondering if i should have the lip clearcoated or leave it unclearcoated. what is the consensus on this issue?

I was wondering if i should have the lip clearcoated or leave it unclearcoated. what is the consensus on this issue? -jon D Unit 02-08-2006, 12:13 PM tough call. clear coating them is better until the wheel gets damaged. the clear coat helps protect the polished look and should be cleaned with soap and water. but once it gets damaged or knicked, the clear coat will start to flake and turn white and is more difficult to repair. the clear coat would need to be removed, the lip will have to polished out, and another clear coat should be applied again. if you leave it uncleared, then you would need to polish the lips more often using Flitz or Mothers aluminum polish. Polishing a slight curb rash is so easy to get out when there's no clear that you could easity DIY. if you like polishing your lips everytime you wash your car, don't clear coat 'em. if you don't and are careful, then coat them.... m3j0n 02-08-2006, 06:01 PM so do i have to polish the wheels every time? seems like an aweful lot of work...
