Has anyone tried to install aftermarket speakers and subs, because I have been told that idrive is exrtremely difficult to work with? I was looking at some JL w6's though, and the sales person said it was possible.

when someone is selling u something..they will say it is always possible...but remember what the system is now...companies like BMW benz jag are constantly thinking of ways where cust will stop putting in aftermarket parts...for example some model benz will reprogram itself if the battery is left undone and it cost about 180 bucks to reprogram...anyways....the i drive purpose is to try and keep people from hacking into the system...there is always a way but would i recommend it...no...sorry man..unless you dont mind losing the warranty

JL audio make a new product called the "clean sweep". It is inteneded to do exactly what you have described. Allow people to keep their current stereos and add aftermarket subs. go to their website and check it out. Any authorized JL audio dealer will have more info on if this will work with your beamer.

I would think an inline converter would set you straight! I am working on an install now and do not forsee any problems with it!
