K Funk 02-07-2006, 12:01 AM It's just down the road from my place on Mott-Smith. Think the phone number was 523-9533.
Tan, and looks in really good shape and all stock. Seats are a little cracked. 4-speed tranny. Couldn't see the miles. Could be a nice cruiser...
hmmmm, this site says they didn't import them to the states until 1974:

How much?
K Funk 02-07-2006, 04:32 AM How much?
didn't say on the sign. Give em a call and ask. As long as that phone number is right. If not, then make a new friend. :)

Problem is the phone must be off the hook, or the number is wrong. I keep getting a busy signal.....maybe someone else beat me to it! :(
kaliimc 02-07-2006, 06:03 PM $995 as is. Still available.
The owner said she has kept up the maintenance on it and it runs well with good power. It is a standard and she is no longer willing to drive with the need to shift, especially in traffic. The mileage is around 102k. Thats about all she said during our phone conversation.
Great price... wish I could buy a house and a car at the same time!
Gene V 02-07-2006, 06:05 PM jump on 'em thrlls...
The Beastmaster 02-07-2006, 06:26 PM $995 as is. Still available.

HOLY CRAP! Thats' cheap, but it may turn around and bite you in the ass. I'm pretty sure Brandon's 2800cs is sorted by now and he wants a very reasonable price.
IslandS62 02-07-2006, 06:34 PM wow. someone buy it. can't go wrong at that price.
kaliimc 02-07-2006, 07:03 PM I had to have her repeat the price because the first time she said $995 I thought I missed a digit. She repeated and said nine hundred and ninety-five dollars.
Still tempted to just go look though.
K Funk 02-08-2006, 12:35 AM Hahah, she must really think its a hot item now. I've noticed it for a few weeks sitting there, and thought there must be another person that likes to take care of old BMWs livin down the street from me, and I should talk to them sometime. It's just on a little section of Mott-Smith in the bend next to a church, and not much traffic thru there. Then as soon as she puts the for sale sign in the window, I post it up on the forums and she gets guys callin quick. :confused
Ah well, yeah that sounds like a great deal. I woulda knocked on the door the other night, but I didn't really want it for myself, nor do I have the time/money. Just thought I'd report on it to the forums, in case anyone is interested.
thrlls 02-08-2006, 01:33 AM I'm going to check it out tomorrow, and if it's in reasonable shape I may become it's new owner!
Wish me well guys! :cool
BTW-How did the meeting go tonight?
RDR-EURO 02-08-2006, 02:08 AM I'm going to check it out tomorrow, and if it's in reasonable shape I may become it's new owner!

Good luck and I hope you buy it. It will be good if you buy it and restored back to prefect conditon!;) If you buy it, make sure you post some pictures of it?:)

If you're stoppin by after 5 pm, then I can drop by and check it out with you. You still have my cell phone #?
Lookin for an older project/toy to cruise around? It seems kinda cool as a bigger more luxurious version of my 2002.
K Funk 02-08-2006, 03:40 AM If you're lookin to restore, the first biggest/most expensive part would probably be reupholstering the seats. They're not nearly as bad as my busted up Recaro, but they certainly show their age. They're tan and some kind of leather or vinyl, not sure.
The paint doesn't look show quality by any means, but looks pretty good for its age. I didn't check thoroughly, but there wasn't any obvious rust.
Besides that, some of the chrome and polished parts may need to be made shiny again. As for the mechanics, I have no idea. But 102K miles probably isn't much for that car, judging by the quality of the mechanical parts on my similarly aged 2002 with 140K, or 240K+ miles.
The Beastmaster 02-08-2006, 06:59 AM Good luck, thrlls. As for the meeting, it went well with lots of new faces showing up.

You have seen my 318 right?
Paint is just surface cosmetics, which I'm not too concerned about. I'd like to know how the mechanical side of the car is. I've been looking for something to tinker around with at home, and this just might be the car.
As for having your cell, I never did have it, but I'll probably be going sometime around 3:00 or so.
thrlls 02-08-2006, 11:57 AM Good luck, thrlls. As for the meeting, it went well with lots of new faces showing up.
Good to know there were some new faces!
I was going to meet up with a paintless dent removal guy today with my roady, but unfortunately it's raining and my roady is not water proof! :D
So I'll reschedule for another day. This guy has been around for a long time, and he said his prices start at $85 but needs to see the car first. If he's good, I'll ask about having him attend a club event and for some kind of discount for the members. I'll keep you posted.
Gene V 02-08-2006, 02:03 PM I'd be interested in the services of the dent guy, if he's good...
Gordon L 02-08-2006, 02:13 PM I'd be right in line after Gene V if the dent guy is any good.....
2800cs 02-08-2006, 03:36 PM 995.00!!!!
Damn!!
The steering box and pump I got used from Terry Sayther cost me something like 400.00 !!!! That is a great deal. Thrlls if you pick it up let me know when you are going to one of the meetings with it...Id like to see!
IslandS62 02-08-2006, 04:16 PM I need a dent guy also, Mike is nowhere to be found, however I am cutting in line as last time at my house, we didn't even get to do MY car. :mad
j/k I think Shane had a guy that was good as well. I need to see them work before I'll let them touch my car though.
808Cardinal87 02-08-2006, 04:47 PM I need to see them work before I'll let them touch my car though. We can let him demonstrate on mine, there are only two dings but I really have nothing to lose.
thrlls 02-08-2006, 05:28 PM I'll keep you guys posted as to when and where and if he can/wants to do it.
Maybe the club should buy the tools from eastwood, and the members can sign out for it and do it themselves...just a thought thrown in.
I was going to buy a set of the tools and the dvd to learn how to do it, but the cost of the tools is $500 for a good combination set.

Wally 02-08-2006, 07:09 PM Did anyone check this out? I miss my 320i thats back home and would love to have another older BMW...
thrlls 02-08-2006, 08:31 PM I'm on my way now, and will let you guys know what happens with the purchase.
I also have some good news on the dent guy!
I'll be back!
thrlls 02-08-2006, 09:58 PM Well, the car is still available.
I was going to buy it, but I had to do a reality check when my wife asked....where are we going to park it?
We already have 5 cars and this would be #6. I would probably get kicked out of Kalama Valley for taking up all the street parking around my house.
I just hate reality checks, and logic! :mad
So needless to say, I had to turn it down. :(
Now for those of you that are still interested in this car, here's whats wrong with it.
1. Rear passenger window motor needs to be replaced
2. Blinker does not turn back on it's own
3. No tools
That's it!
There are a few things like the trunk panels are loose, and you need to use a stick to hold up the hood.
This car is in very very good shape for being as old as it is.
The paint looks good...no shine, but a little buffing will take care of that. Looks better than my 318!
The interior is in excellent shape, just a little creasing in the leather, but no tears.
The sunroof is in good shape...but I didn't try to open it.
There is NO rust that I could see through out the car.
The trans shifts very smoothly.
The clutch feels good no signs of slipping.
Engine idles a little high, but nothing serious no knocking sounds, and has a lot of power.
The car is all original...hub caps and all!
The lady is the original owner and has had it maintained all the time, which is very obvious.
This would make a great car to tinker with and there isn't much to replace.
Mileage is 103k Hawaii miles.
Someone needs to buy it!
K Funk 02-08-2006, 11:50 PM OK, so I was driving home, and looked to see if it was still there. I see its not there, and figured thrlls musta bought it. I see the lady standing out there. I keep heading up the road towards home, and guess what I see 2 cars in front of me at the stoplight: the tan 3.0 s with an asian man driving it!
I wiggle around and try to get woody to notice me. Then he lights up the tires when the light turns green.
Luckily the car between us turned away, and he headed straight up Mott-Smith. I followed behind, and he didn't pull over at first. I thought what the hell, maybe I'll give him a chase up Tantalus. :cool
Eventually he pulled over, and it wasn't Woody driving!
But it was John, and he knew who I was. Which screenname is he? Think I mighta met him before, but not sure.
He seemed to think the car felt a little too old for him.
The Beastmaster 02-08-2006, 11:55 PM IslandS52 or gsn94?

Island S52 I think... but I didn't notice an M Coupe parked anywhere...

What about an Audi A4? I guess he really is serious about getting a beater.

I don't smoke the tires, I work them! :stickoutt
Hopefully that person doesn't buy the car, because that is not what this car should be used for. It will only break down on him, and become a costly investment. That person should be looking to buy a Mustang or Camaro instead. :D

Yeah, in your younger days, you would smoke somthing else. :redspot
thrlls 02-09-2006, 01:58 AM Yeah, in your younger days, you would smoke somthing else. :redspot
In my younger daze, I would smoke just about anything that was dry.
BTW Banana leaves are very very harsh! So is Tea leaves, and regular grass.
I wonder how the Hibiscus leave or flower would be??? :eyecrazy
IslandS62 02-09-2006, 03:41 AM :rofl that was me this afternoon. Nice lady, and nice car, but I think I am not ready for such a "mature" BMW. I might still bite...for $1k the options are very limited and I could do a LOT worse.
For the record I didn't light the tires, all I got was a lil' chirp. :shifty
An old car with a new clutch trying to start up Round Top Dr. I think I can be forgiven for giving it a bit too much gas.

2800cs 02-09-2006, 03:13 PM :)
K Funk 02-09-2006, 11:21 PM Thats it, and its not there anymore!
I got an idea who might have it tho.... :buttrock
toropoki 02-10-2006, 10:46 AM Who?
The Beastmaster 02-10-2006, 12:30 PM Yeah, inquiring minds want to know!
IslandS62 02-10-2006, 03:04 PM twasn't me, so who got it?
K Funk 02-10-2006, 11:21 PM hmmmm, don't know if I'm allowed to say.
but I'll say this much:
Thanks for the heads up. We'll have to figure out some kind of finder's fee. I can't believe Woody and JP passed that up. It's original down to the spare spark plugs and bulbs in the tool kit. She has receipts from the first car wash! Anyway, enough of my ramblings on the wrong board...
:devillook
The Beastmaster 02-10-2006, 11:23 PM Hmmmm. Considering Brandon took a pic of the car, that also means he went down to look at it. :shifty
RDR-EURO 02-10-2006, 11:27 PM Hmmmm. Considering Brandon took a pic of the car, that also means he went down to look at it. :shifty
I also have a feeling it was him also?;) If that was a coupe, I would had bought it from her already.:D
K Funk 02-10-2006, 11:45 PM I also have a feeling it was him also?;) If that was a coupe, I would had bought it from her already.:D
uhhh nope.
2800cs 02-13-2006, 03:40 PM Wasnt me!!
The Beastmaster 02-13-2006, 06:40 PM rennwerkes???
IslandS62 02-13-2006, 08:56 PM nah, Dean would have spilled the beans to me by now, and des not know Kfunk.
rennwerkes 02-13-2006, 10:06 PM Wasn't me! I was telling IslandS52 that those Bavaria's and 3.0's rock. For their time they were amazing cars. Four wheel disk, power windows, leather, fuel injection, etc. etc! If I'm not mistaken, BMW's also had Hemi heads. Go figure, American cars make such a big to do about this! Europeans just consider it so passe'
Sounds like someone got a killer deal.
K Funk 02-14-2006, 03:18 AM He's gotta be lurking here, never posts much. Come on and post some pics with it shined up properly!
By the way, I got a whole bunch of parts today from those junked cars.
I got a speedometer, clear fuse cover, plastic backing plates for taillights, shock tower rubber covers, brake reservour, washer bottle and bracket, license plate light, and other bits and pieces. All for $80. :buttrock
everything is installed and working great, except for the brake reservoir (don't feel like bleeding everything again right now).
Its a smooth running car now that I've got most of the little stuff working as it should. :redspot
