Just got them on... all 4...

Previous tire.. were the 712s... cheap.. but worth the cheapness IMO.

I'm not sure how new to the production line the STPs are.. but I found little reviews for them.. but all the reviews I did find.. noted them to be a very good buy... traction and wet traction.

My voice on them: I think this is the best tire I've ever bought... atleast first impression wise. I've been through about 150k miles of tires on this car and these are the best I've put on.

Noise... there is none. 0-100mph.
Ride Comfort... Best the car has felt in a long time. Very smooth.
Straight traction... Impressive.. ( I down sized the rear from 265 to a 245 w/ little visual difference between the two.. even when put next to each other durring the change over.) I had the 712's down to being able to chirp them while shifting from 2nd to 3rd.. at first I could only do first and second with the 712's... I am only given a small chirp from a stand still... rather sticky IMO.
Turn In... Not as touchy as the 712s... but still up there with them. I have noticed a slight delay... but not enough to have to get use to, if you know what I mean. I will not have to relearn turns in this car due to these new tires.
Corner traction... They have their breaking point.. like all tires.. but it is a know break of traction.. and very easily felt and recovered... unlike others, where you lose it... you have to fight to have it back... impressive in the corner.

I like them... best I've had in a long time... not exspensive... about 500 for the four. (225/45/18s and 245/40/18s)

It will be interesting to see how they play out 10k down the road. Tire wear should be good... higher than the 712's and still in the Ultra High Performance Summer tire category.

I'm impressed.

Thanks for the review. I recently went with the ecsta asx after finally deciding on the all seasons instead of the stp's. not sure if that was the best choice, but in the end I just wanted the treadlife.

Glad you like them. The ASX's are pretty nice too. Much better than what they replaced!

+1

I just picked up a set for my dual duty 325 . . .

I ran it @ at an AutoX about 100 miles away. These tires are SUPER quiet on the interstate. They performed really well @ the AutoX. They slide and grip really well. I could invoke a slide and control it . . . it felt REALLY good.

IMHO no A/S tire will fare well on Auto-X. Only reason I would pick Kumho ASXs is cause they have a 30k mile warranty guarantee if you rotate them and have proof of alignment.

That said, I'd deff pick an all-season tire if you see temps as low as 40 or less. I'd have to pick a Pirelli PZero Nero M+S over ASXs even though they are about 30% more. Much better tire. Or if you have simple 17s, with 225/45/17s all around then the Avon Tech M550 AS is a very decent buy and in the same price range as the ASXs.

BTW a Good Ultra High Performance Tire is the new BFGoodrich g-Force Sports... (95/105 fr/rr)

BFG's... does not have the tread life I was looking for...

The STPs are not A/S tires... more dry/wet tires.

Take it for what you will... but if you dont want to spend 200+ bucks on rear tires... this is the best I've found.. because I refuse to pay that amount for a tire that I can get performance elsewhere for cheaper.

I was referring to the ASX post. As for STPs... I wont disgree with you. But I wouldn't say I refuse to pay X amount for tires, cause at the end of the day its the only thing that is really touching the road. And You would probably have a different selection with different tires. The selection you have is about 1" taller then stock 17s... Thats something I wouldn't have done.

But to each their own :)

If you are refering to the 225/45/18... and the 245/40/18... I picked a slightly thicker tire just for road use.. I have different tires for different purposes on this car.

These are the tires that will see the public roads. And unfortunately the pot holes... bumps... and ect. Thus a slightly thicker tire IMO.

I have to agree. I just picked up a set of 235 and 245s. I have had quite a few kinds of tires. I think the SPTs are some of the best for the money I have every had. I have put 3K miles on them and the fronts still look like they did when new. I can still see the engraved ecsta on the fronts. The backs are just loosing the ecsta. probably from me sliding out around every corner. I love these tires for sliding the rear out. They are very predictable and regain traction very well.
