I am just wondering if anyone on this site would be interested in buying a set of used JRZ triple adjustible, remote reservoir struts. These shocks have had about 3 owners. The history of these shocks is quite impressive: They were first owned by Jeff Altenburg, who ran them in a touring car series (in an M3 I believe).
They have been on my car, an e36 328is, for about 2yrs, I have had them rebuilt once. I would recommend a rebuild before putting them in the car. The shocks should fit any e36, except for a 318ti.
I am looking to get about $2000 for these shocks, but a let me know what you thing they are worth.
Thanks.

Ken maybe you can put a JRZ tripleon the front right, and a Moton triple on the front left ;)

Bryce, who is the "about 3rd" owner, you mentioned Altenburg and yourself?

What spring rates were they valved for? Who did the rebuild?

Any pictures of exterior condition?

:lol ...except, I've got Moton TA's rears!!! I figured ta jrz's up front with moton ta rears should be pretty cool and goes well with my trailer park theme.

Who's rebuilding JRZ's???? About how much for a rebuild?

The 2nd owner was Brian Fitzpatrick. He placed 5th this year at the Solo2 Nationals in an Integra Type R.

I was personally running 90Nm and 70Nm springs (f/r) on the car, but they are capable of running much higher rates.

Joe Stimola @ SRP Engineering rebuilt them last. They did a great job, and they are the offical JRZ rebuild center in the US. Joe is guy that Bob Tunnell recommended I go to, to get them rebuilt. The cost of a rebuild is between $400 and $500, but they wont know for sure till they open the shocks up.

I currently dont have any pictures, they got erased when a virus spread through my computer. I would hope to have some pictures of them by the middle of next week.

Cool, yea Joe is a good guy, i've done some business with him before.

Of course they are capable of higher spring rates, but proper valved they will have a smaller range of compiant spring rates.

sorry to hear about your computer.

P.S. This thread is going to get moved.

Well, there has been a new development, that I just found out about this morning. The guys at SRP Engineering tore the shocks apart, and found that the anodizing on the bodies has been worn away, causing the pistons to momentarily stick whenever it compresses, and then stick again when it rebounds back.

Right now the bill for the rebuild, plus the parts needed to make the shocks new agian is around $1000. Due to this new development, I am willing to negotiate the price of the unrebuilt shocks.

Make me your best offer! I really need to sell these shocks ASAP!!!!

Ouch, sorry to hear.

Surprised this has not been moved to specialty classifieds, might get more exposure there.

I wonder why those shocks did not last?

Nope, the maintance costs of the jrz's were just too high for a poor college kid. I was hoping to buy some TCKline DA koni's, but they are currently on back order till late march.
What shocks/spring rates are you running?

Koni yellows Shortened one inch, Converted to Double adjustable. 450 front spring, 525 rear spring. If I bother to make changes (which would mean running the car competetively somewhere) I'd get the valved differently and go to a 500 f 550 rear (on street tires) or 650 rear for the r-comps.
