Call up www.autoloc.com

They have lots of universal stuff that can work well, but their website sucks.

I have an imobiliser in my 1602 (came with the car) you have to put a special key into a socket (looks like a fat headphone jack) before you get power to the ignition, it self arms after 20-30 seconds when you switch off the ignition. Also I have been meaning to put a fuel shutoff solinoid before the filter on my 2002, so the car would start but you would only get a mile or two before it ran out of gas. Just some thoughts. beaner7102

A guy at the stereo / alarm shop said an install of both an alarm and power door locks would be fairly easy. The main problem he envisioned, though, was making sure that the lock mechanism is in good working order. My door lock tends to stick a little and he was worried that the power door lock motor would burn itself out prematurely. They need to pop locked/unlocked pretty smoothly. You should also make sure the motor unit fits inside the door (some do, some don't - shop around).

If they want to break into your car and steal it, they will. Alarms only stop the amateurs.

I've got a secret toggle switch that controls my cold start injector. Any thief might have some trouble getting the old tii going without knowing that trick

my tii came with a ground cutt off switch .. a red plastic key like thing, you turn and take out. Very handy when working on the engine .. just turn the thing and the electrics are off. Always thought if I was in the city I could just pull that key out from the engine bay and voila.. dead BMW

Exactly, the only thing you can do is make it harder which may deter them all together. A few cheaper ways then installing a alarm would be a stealth battery cutoff switch and a quick release steering wheel locked in the trunk.
Stereo Equipment would certainly require a alarm. The only thing that would deter a thief aside from the alarm would be a stealth stereo setup. Make it look stock and hidden.

Thats how I "lock" my 2002 only mine is in the trunk.

ya its pretty cool huh? Dang I should get one setup on the blu demon i'm building. Just for the fact that you don't have to constantly unhook the battery when working on things

The Blu Demon -- a 75 i picked up a while back -- no head but otherwise pretty nice.

I got a 73 tii engine off Blunt thats going in here in a week or two once I get some time off. Got a 320is fuel pump and need to run a fuel line and get a few more parts. Its got a 5 speed close ratio in it and *should* be a fine runner.

Awesome. I love the color. Good score on the gearbox.

The paintjob isn't the greatest .. it looks good here. The PO kind of chumped it a bit, but what the hell. It was pastelblu but the PO did kind of a slash job so you can see he didn't even bother to take the car down, just masked off things and shot it.

It was like $600 and it has almost zero rust.. imagine my surprise when It dog legged!!!! So in goes the tii engine w/KF .. then all I gotta do is track down the title and drive it!

Vermont is civilized that way.. in Oregon you need a title (well half the people around here drive 30+ year old trucks and cars anyway). But at least we don't have to pump our own gas -- or pay sales tax (you guys don't either do you?)

I got it off a guy who was going to race it but fizzled out so he didn't have the title. My buddy let a cop shoot an elk on his place so he had him run the plates and so I know who used to own it.. like 3 owners back. I called but got the guys parents.. he had fecked off to BC or something & they had no clue where he was, so i'm just going to go to the DMV and claim it was abandoned on my property -- if nobody claims it within a few months i'll own it ;)
