The world’s largest BMW E31 8-series meeting will be held in Lake Forest, California, on Saturday, 28 September 2002. 850s and 840s from Canada, Santa Barbara, New Mexico, Phoenix, San Diego, and everywhere in between will be present. European Car Magazine is still working on assigning someone to cover this event, but if it works out, we may have national coverage! For those needing overnight accommodations, we have a great rate negotiated with the Irvine Suites Hotel but you have to make a reservation with the hotel by 23 September 2002. RSVP to David Miyasako at dtmiyasako@yahoo.com to get a 5-page flyer on the event and to get on the So Cal 8 e-mail list.

The Southern California BMW 8-Series meeting held on 28 September 2002 in Lake Forest is now history. What a fantastic day it was! The people were great, the cars were beautiful, the weather was nice and cool and, to top it off, a new world’s record for the most number of 850s and 840s in one place and at one time has been set. It doesn't get much better than this. The previous record, set in France in early August 2002, was 26. At photo time, the So Cal 8s had 26 e31s. Then, just as the photo was to be taken, number 27 (the black 850 in the center of the V) pulled in. You should have heard the cheers. A special thanks to the Lake Forest Fuddruckers that roped off the parking lot, provided a banquet room, and let us take pictures from their roof top. Next year’s event will be even bigger with all the West Coast 8 clubs getting together (including Canada) to form the Left Coast 8s (LC8s). So watch for details and contact David at dtmiyasako@yahoo.com if you’re interested in being a part of yet another historic meeting. Here is the link to some pics from the meeting:

See you next year!
