View Full Version : Is there a major difference between an 04 X5 and an 06 X5?

Hi, the dealer gave us a pretty good deal on a 06 X5 3.0i with Prem, Cold Weather, rear climate, and sport pkg, I think it has parktronic too. I currently have a 04 X5 3.0i with all the same pkgs except the sport pkg and parktronic. I was wondering do the packages make that much difference and is their any difference between the year models either?

Thanks for everybody's input.

Not much different in the years, but the Sport will definitely change the way the truck handles and feels.

And I wouldn't imagine having one without Parktronic.

I agree & wish BMW would offer the Sport withoout the sport seats as an option.

Well I have the sport right now but this next X5 I am getting I specifically wanted it without the sport suspension after I test drove the reqular suspension with the 19 wheels. Believe me you will appreciate the ride and the handling is just about the same IMO, without the choppy ride.

Not sure about the 4.4, but the 3.0 without sport SUCKS. The thing rolls like a Lexus. I can see why it did poorly in the Consumer Reports tip over test.

Could be the weight I don't know. I have heard the same thing from other X5 3.0i owners. Believe me I run my truck hard and the 4.4i with the 19' wheels felt just as good handling around corners at considerable greater speed than the post one with a more smooth ride. I have driven a 330 Lexus and no way did it feel that soft, not even close.

I don't think it's that bad. I had a 3.0 without sport suspension and it handled better than other sport sedans, with the exception of BMW sport sedans, of course. Lexus vehicles, specially the SUVS, are much worse. Can't compare.
