The previous owner of my car got one of those "America united" license plates.

Although I support America i'm not really into this license plate plus the sticker is also faded so it really looks ugly.
I've seen people with these plates that have put their own decal or stickers on them. Is that legal? I want to get new organizational plates and put like a BMW roundel emblem or decal on it instead of the "America United" decal.

I used to have the "arts" plates on my honda but I never did put the decal on and was never bothered.

I think it is technically illegal as a plate obstruction. Whether or not you will be stopped and ticketed is purely up to individual officers.
As many here know, I flat out refuse to run front plates on my cars. Rarely do I have a problem, but once in a while I'll run into one of "those" cops who feels the need to ticket me.

The plate already has the empty spot for it. I'm going to be replacing the ugly sticker with one of my choice. Do you think it'll still be considered obstruction?

yeah, I think it will. I believe someone told me they got "scolding" for having a different sticker on there, but like I said its' no serious offense, so if you want to chance it...its no capital crime.

I got pulled over for have a "sushi" sticker in it's place. The officer was nice to let me go on a warning. It is illegal to put anything on other than the standard issue.

Don't feel bad there Pat!
The other night I brought my wife to her knees, then she looked under the bed and said, "Come out and fight like a man!" of course I waited till she left for work in the morning. :D
As for the lic plate, I removed the flag sticker and replaced it with the SCCA decal and drove it that way for a year, never got stopped. However, I have since replaced the entire plate.
