Hey everyone,
Bought a 330xi a couple of weeks ago and am loving every minute of it. I previously owned a 1994 318i, so this is a nice step up. Anyway, I'm having trouble linking my garage door frequency to the HomeLink in my rear view mirror. I've tried the instructions in the owner's manual, as well as the instructions in the garage door manual. No luck. Any suggestions or are there better instructions out there? My garage door is a LiftMaster Model 3110 w/Security+. Appreciate any suggestions and am glad to be a BMW owner again.

I don't know if you are having the same problem I had, but it took me a while to get mine to work also. I ended up following the instructions from the BMW user manual to copy the signal from my garage door opener. I got the LED on the rearview mirror to flicker fast indicating it had copied the signal, but it still wouldn't operate the garage door opener. I then took the instuction manual for my garage door opener and used the pairing feature on it to link with the signal the car was transmitting. There was a button on the garage door opener you had to push which let it search for signals for 30 seconds. Then I got in the car and pushed the button I had programmed using my original garage door remote, and they synchronized with each other. Now it works just fine. I do have to hold the button down for a second or two before the door goes up or down, though.

I had spent the better part of the morning on this for the wife's car. Your suggestion was spot on!!! Let the unit "learn" the code (quick flashing light) then press the learn button on the garage door motor unit and repress the same button in the car.

Thanks
Cheers

If you have an opener with rolling security (most sold in the past 5 years are) programming is a two step process.

Follow the directions in the manual for step one where the car will learn the remote. When doing this most have found it best to place the opener remote at the rear of the rear view mirror drivers side. Holding the remote in front of the rear view mirror often does not work.

Once you finish that step you will need to set the car control to work your door. There is a programming button on your opener that you will press and then, within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the homelink control you want to open that door. Once the door opens/closes you have set it.

Make sure you have the car out of the way of the door.

Call Homelink customer service they helped me out when I had problems. Doors with rolling codes are harder to do, some have a button on the drive unit, "learn button" on my opener. You actually have to get to the drive unit push thew button then go through the procedure. Good Luck!
