So I *LOVE* the throaty burble of the 4.4's exhaust, but it's a little too muffled for my taste ... should be opened up a bit more but without becoming a droaning annoyance. After all, this *IS* a nice cruising car that can enjoy spirited drives now and then. =)
Question: without breaking the bank, what's the best way to more or less get that 4.8 loudness? Notice I said "loudness," not "sound," as i know the 4.4 will never sound quite like the 4.8 of course.
That said, can't i just change the mufflers? Why spend $$$$ on a full exhaust system?
I tried searching the forums but found little on this matter ... thank you!! :)

We're a Supersprint Dealer and we have a cat-back system for the X5 4.4i. I have thought about going with this system many times on my 4.4. Supersprint is traditionally slightly louder than stock and you get a sweet rumble with this exhaust installed. We don't have it on our website as of right now, we will have it up in the upcoming future, or you could call for pricing.
Here's our number 800-221-2262 and we're open from 8AM-6PM PST.

I just installed a B&B exhaust on my X5, the sound and quality are top notch. You can get them at BavAuto.com for around $900, much less than a SuperSprint exhaust. Both are great and of equal quality.
Remus is also very popular.
I've been thinking of doing this simple and inexpensive mod.

wow is that really a REMUS?
good deal if it is.
Well...it's still gonna turn out to be about $870 shipped for both exhausts, which is pretty much the same price on most on-line stores.
