When tint is taken off at a shop, will the defoster be damaged?
I dont' have tint and want to get some done but don't want my
defroster to be worthless after it's taken off.

I've taken off tint before and the only way I could do it is scrap it off.
Scraping off the tint means scrapeing off the window deffroster or risking damaging the defroster.

Just get a professional install of top-end film and it shouldn't need to be replaced unless you get sick of it.

To answer your question, I would say that there would be a significant risk of damaging the defroster.

IF you really need to take it off, bring it to the most reputable shop you know, they can usually get it off without a provblem.

Why not get a good tint job and never take it off??:dunno

Whatabout the really crappy purple tint stuff, I've got that and planning to take that off and get a real tint done, will that mess up the defroster or is that stuff to easy to peel off, haven't tried and car is in shop so just curious.

Yes it's possible. Most of the good tinters will tell you that they can probally get it off, but they will not guarrantee they can get it off without damaging the defrost grid.

Is it a sticky film? If so that is the glue that is used to stick the tint to the window. On all the windows but the rear just take some aerosol glass cleaner with amonia, spray sections at a time then use a razor blade to scrape the goo off. Note: the goo makes a big mess and sticks to everything so just take your time.
On the rear window if the tint is off take the same glass cleaner, spray small sections and use light steel wool and wipe the goo off. Do not use a razor blade because you will damage the defroster.
When you are done make sure you have all the glue off the windows and clean them one last time.
