Quick question..... i was thinking about adding 2 12" subwoofers to my 02 745i.....looking for more BASS..... took a ride to a local Tweeter and was told that they would not be able to work on my car due to its fiber-optic cables. Is this true??? if so, would anyone know where i can have something like this installed? Thanks in advance

they's some dummies.
even if it is, they can put a line output converter on the wires going to the speakers and run that to an amp.
Hmm
Most shops are afraid to work on over-electronic'ed, expensive, new cars.
This may be a DIY project.

Well, your car does have ALOT of fiber optics, and ALOT of electrical issues.
I'm sure that it's because no one wants to get involved.

i know most shops up here refuse to work on both my buddies 96 audi a4, and just for shits and giggles i asked about mine they said hell no or it would cost me an arm and a leg. which is fine with me cause i planned on doing it myself anyways. they all said german wiring was a pita

I remember the first time I installed a stereo in a BMW...it was a 92 325i convertible (E30)
I pulled it out and saw what was back there and was like WTF???

It is rather easy to add just a subwoofer to the E65.....
I don't ever tap directly into any aspect of the I-Drive setup, so there isn't really room for error in that department.
Straight to the battery for power, turn the amplifier to signal sensing, and I get the signal (music) from the subwoofers underneath the front seats.
I do charge extra for a dealer trip if necessary to have any lights turned off that may come on.
It is an E65 after all.....:)
