The other night me and my friend went out to go street racing out in the middle of no where. There was like a hundred cars with us it was pretty cool. I lined up with a 94 Mustang gt 5.0 with pretty decient mods. We took off he pulled on me at first. I was right behind him though i caught him right as i shifted into third. we raced all the way up to like 140 i was quiet a few cars in front of him it was pretty crazy!!
:alright

What constitutes pretty decent mods? These days in the 5.0 world, pretty decent mods is a heads/cam/blower 347 stroker making 600 rwhp. Serious mods are a heads/cam/turbo 408 Windsor motor making 1250 rwhp. A heads/cam/full bolt on stock shortblock 5.0 is just in the ball game as for mods on one of those cars.....hell they only make ~300 rwhp / 330 lb tq at that level, and thats with some very decent heads and a fairly aggressive cam.

Anyhow, good run, 540 has got serious game on the highway from all Ive heard. :cool

if tuned and running well, that's easily 300rwhp. should be enough to run with you, most likely beat you. I had a car we did just that to. Home port and polish heads, cam, gt40 upper/lower, shorty headers. Trapped about 104 before the paxton.

Sounds about right. He pulls you out of the hole, as speeds increase you stop his pull and pass him. Good job

The 5.0's can be nasty machines. My bro had one that trapped around 108. He ended up selling it and getting an 04 GT, but we had some fun in his 5.0. It was a white LX, 25th anniversary. It was a 90 or 91, I don't remember.

25th anny was 1989. Stangs came out in '64 (actually 64 and a half).
The '99 is the 35th anny car.

A lot depends on what heads those were....BIG difference between some home-polished stockers with decent valves, and say a set of AFR 185s with a Stg III CNC port/ hand-polished, 2.02/1.60 valves and dual springs that'll handle .620 lift (then again you'd need fly-cut aftermarket pistons to clear that setup). A decent set of up the middle heads, wiht all the bolt-ons (as this guy seems to have had) you're looking at right in the neighborhood of 300 rwhp, probably 330-340 lb tq. Very respectable in a Fox body car. Like some of these guy said, traps easily in the 104-108 range, mid-12's et (with good suspension and tires mind you, you'd need short times in the 1.7-1.8 range). My little brothers '88 LX with heads/cam full bolt ons made 285 rwhp 315 rwtq, and those were some so-so heads. At that he was running 13.1 @ 103.xx with a 1.95 short time. :cool

but it wasn't a fox body. I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not.........so I need you to tell me. :)

not a huge difference. fox GTs were reasonably weighty, but a stripper notchback was a light car.

the sn95 does have a few hundred on it though.

You never know, as phantaZ noted. Heads can be all over the place, with performance outputs. All bets are off once you start seriously modding a 5.0; the problem is most of the setups out there are loud and tired.

There are however, more than a few serious cars out there, and i know of 3 that other than radials and skinnies and a hood look stock. And they're all 10 sec cars. Then again i've beaten a few ground effect wearing, fancy wheels, graphics, thumping stereo flowmaster type loud ass exhaust mustangs handily with the roadster.

Giter, you are right I see 5.0 I think Fox chassis, but the SN-95 is very comperable, albeit a slight increase in weight, as noted. Overall for the purpose of this thread, the two are interchageable.

'Roo is correct, and to butcher a quote by our friend Mr. Gump "life is like a 5-ohh Mustang, you never know what you're gonna get". They all sound like death wrapped in steel, so unless you can spot some key features or sounds, you never know if your going up against a 14 second super-turd or a 9 sec land-bourn Intercontinental Ballistic Missle. A couple of tellers of the latter of those two:

-one or, God help you, two massive fuel pumps hanging out under the back end of the car, visible from the rear.

-A -10 fuel feed line coming from those pumps usually means you want NOTHING to do with that guy!!

-the Vortech whistle is fairly obvious.

-if you can eat a sandwitch and take a nap between cam lopes, that might be a sign.

-2" studed 5 lug axles in the rear (usually have a Moser or Strange decal in the very middle)

-if they raise the hatch to fill up the fuel cell, take note.

-if he has two nitrous bottles, because one isn't enough for a full run, he means business.

Hope that helps :help :D

haha yeah that cracked me up.

ag, I like the new sig. Most people will know it is a cobra, but stupid people think you're representing some dumb pony 6 on a bimmer forum. Also I liked your pm. :stickoutt

I won't pchop it, for one I suck at pchopping, two I don't have it over here.

Also, why doesn't your grill have the Cobra symbol, I thought all Cobras had a snake in the front grill, and one on each fender? :confused
