Well I finally got my first race against my friends 300ZHP. From stoped we went up to about 80before shutting down on a 45mph street 3 lanes across. Launched at about 3.5k RPM had a good launch jumped about a car lenght ahead, after 1st he caught up to about 1/2cl and stayed like that untill 80mph. 2nd race was from dead stop again had a bad really bad launch he took about 1.5cl lead but after 2nd i closed it down to 1.5cl i was expecting to completely lose because hes a good driver and has about 35+ hp on me. But i was happy with the outcome :D

CarandDriver recently tested the 325i with a manual tranny and it got a very fast 6.1 second 0-60 time. Thats almost as quick as a 330i. Note that these numbers are from the new e90 3 series, but I think they may provide an answer.

and how to drive in general. How can a 325 keep up w/ a 330ZHP?

what mods do you have? a stock (or even slightly modded) e46 325 cannot burn/beat an e46 zhp, if you are an e90 325 that might make more sense.

his car is a manual too :D tell him to launch in first gear this time, apparently you can keep with him if he launches in second ;)

hes one of my closest friends and a great driver too. Like i said i was expecting to lose almost enough i would bet against myself. But i pulled it off got a great launch with perfect shifting. You never know he might have shifted slow or anything could of happend.

E46 325's are slow, tell your bro when he upshifts - do it by 1, not 2.

You take the three strippers OUT of the trunk before engaging in contests of speed. Sheesh.

Ummm......:confused

LEz see here...hmmmm.....carry the 7......divide by pie.........add the coefficient.....yep, exactly as I suspected.......this equation makes no damn sense at all. :eyecrazy

The 325 beats the 330zhp if a good launch is had by the 325. The 325 ties the zhp if a bad launch is done by the 325, and the driver of the zhp is a great driver.

Yep makes not a lick of sense. A 330zhp is better than a 330i. It has 10chp more and has shorter gearing. I believe it is 3.07 than the 2.98 in the 330i. I can't rememeber. Dave knows for sure. But a properly driven zhp is a drivers race with a e36 m3 with the slight edge to the m3. The only way an e46 325 is a drivers race with an e36 m3 is if somebody like dave is driving the 325 and my paraplegic grandmother is driving the m3.

makes sense or not thats what happend. not making anything up like i said i was suprised had no idea it would be like that. Eventhough his ZHP is bone stock and i got CAI Exhaust Throttle body and short shifter i thought he would still beat me. Next time ill get a video

Yeah, outcome not as I expected! Oh well, this is another race that proves anything can happen on the streets...even though I will never believe that an E46 325 will be even close to my car in a race... :D

does that CAI happen to force air into the vehicle also?

I'm not saying your lying, but I am doubting your judgement on your friends driving.

Mihalis, I doubt any e46 325 short of an engine swap, or a cammed, swapped rear end, intake/exhaust/shark can probably get ya.

Next time ill get a video you do that ;)

i have a friend with a zhp and it easily beats stock 330's and it is hilarious to see him take a 325 (think 3 car lenghts to 40 mph)
